A Study On The Quality Of Life And Its Influencing Factors Among The Rural Elderly In Chizhou,Anhui

ObjectivesThe purposes of this study were to realize the status and distribution of the quality of life and the influence factors of it among the rural elderly in Chizhou.This study intends to provide basis for formulating feasible intervention measures to batter the elderly's quality of Life.MethodsA total of 939 rural elderly who aged 60 years or above in Chizhou was selected to carry out the survey.We used the questionnaire to examine their demographic characteristic and health behavior.The Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey(SF-36)was used to assess the quality of life.T-test,correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of the quality of life.ResultsThe average life quality score among those elderly was 67.51±16.83.The scores of life quality of male rural elders in VT and SF were lower than those of female,the other dimensions were higher than those of female.Most of the dimensions of the quality of life of the elderly in different age segments decreased with age,with the annual income l and education level increased(P<0.05).In addition to the MH score of the rural elderly in the other dimensions are higher than the divorced,unmarried,widowed elderly(P<0.05).Chronic diseases of the elderly quality of life score less than older people without the disease(P<0.05).The scores of RP,VT,SF,RE and MH of smokers were lower than those of non-smokers.But only the PF score difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Often drinkers only VT score lower than those who do not drink,PF,SF was statistically significant(P <0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the associated factors of life quality are age,sex,family income,drinking,disease and marriage(p<0.01).ConclusionThe quality of life of the rural elderly in Chizhou is a general level.In the survey score of general health and score emotional function is lower.Overall quality of life scores decreased with increasing age,and with the increase in annual income increased.The associated factors of life quality are age,sex,family income,drinking,disease and marriage.
