Objective:According to the project of screening and intervention ofhigh risk population of diabetes mellitus in Danyang City from 2012 to 2014,was performed this studyto understand the prevalence of diabetes mellitus anddiscuss the correlation between smoking and waist circumference.The aim of this study is to provide the theoretical basis for further improvement of national basic health services.Method:The select information including measurement of blood sugar,waist circumference and smoking statusfrom 2012 to 2014 in 12 town of Danyang City.The effects of different years,gender,town and economic level was analyzedusing ?2 test and the relationship of health behavioral factors in high-risk groups of diabetes was analyzed using OR.Results:The proportion of high-risk population for diabetes was the highest in 2014,and the lowest was in 2012.In 2012 and 2014,the risk for diabetes maintained a stable(?2 = 466.201,?2= 2491.225,?2= 1338.426,P<0.001),and the proportion of urban high-risk population in economically developed town was higher than that in economically underdeveloped town.The prevalence of diabetes was higher in the high-risk group than that in the town(?2= 4.400,P<0.05).Smoking and waist circumference were the risk factors for diabetes mellitus.The prevalence of diabetes mellitus was statistically different in different years,genders.The prevalence of diabetes was 2.45% in female and 2.00% in male.The difference was statistically significant(?2= 94.295,P<0.001).The incidence of diabetes in rural areas was higher than that in rural areas.The prevalence of diabetes was 2.38%,2.24% and 2.11%,respectively.The difference was no significant(?2= 4.142,P =0.041).The prevalence of diabetes in smokers was 1.583 times higher than that in non-smokers,and the prevalence of diabetes in excessive waist circumference was 2.552 timeshigher than that in the normal group.Conclusion:Screening high-risk population can find out diabetes,and perform intervention,health education,healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits in order to reduce the proportion of high risk population of diabetes mellitus and improve the patient's health.On the other hand,tobacco control and obesity/overweight control can reduce the prevalence of diabetes in residents.Through continuous screening of high-risk groups of diabetes,improvement of the basic public health services,and increase of screening efforts of diabetes can promote the country's basic public health improvement and development.
