Objective: This research studies the effect of the medicated bath therapy with wind-dispelling eggs on infantile fever caused by exogenous pathogens. In this study,we observe the temperatures and symptom scores on two groups of infants before and after the respective treatments, investigate the medicated bath therapy with wind-dispelling eggs in terms of its efficacy on infantile fever caused by exogenous pathogens. The clinical trial results demonstrate that the therapy is a safe, standard, and effective method for this disease. Methods: In this study,we investigate 120 eligible patients from the outpatient department of pediatrics in the first affiliated hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine. The patients are ranked according to the order of taking the treatment and divided by the method of random number table into two groups, including the treatment group and the control group. All 60 patients in each group take the treatment one or two times per day and three days in total. The clinical trial results should be observed and recorded for five days. When a child's axillary temperature is less than 38.5 degrees Celsius,he/she is given the medicated bath therapy with wind-dispelling eggs if he/she belongs to the treatment group, otherwise he/she is given cooling paste, sponge bath and/or other physical cooling methods. However, when the temperature is greater than 38.5 degrees Celsius, the child is given acetaminophen oral suspension no matter in which group. If the temperature does not decrease in four hours after taking the acetaminophen oral suspension, the child should be further treated with ibuprofen suspension.By recording the temperature and symptom scores of the two groups before the treatment, and 0.5h,2h,3h,4h,24 h,48h,72 h after the treatment,we find the onset time, the complete antipyretic time, and the antipyretic effect and symptom scores at 72 h after the treatment. Results: 1.The two groups do not show significant differences in gender, age, course distribution, body temperature and symptom scores before treatment.2.After the treatment, the treatment group performs better than the control group in all aspects, including the onset time, the complete antipyretic time, and the number of treatment taken. The rate of the antipyretic effect is 94.9%in the treatment group and 82.5% in the control group. It is obvious that the antipyretic effect is better in the treatment group than in the control group.3.Each and the total symptom scores before and after the treatment are compared between the two groups. We have got that P is less than 0.05 in all cases. The differences are statistically significant and indicate the improvement in both groups. Conclusion: 1.The medicated bath therapy with wind-dispelling eggs has a definite curative effect on infantile fever caused by exogenous pathogens.2.It can not only shorten the onset time and complete antipyretic time, but maintain the normal temperature in a long time.It can enhance the antipyretic effect.3.It can relieve the symptoms such as cough, nasal obstruction, runny nose, and swelling of the pharynx.4.The therapy can be simply operated and has few side effects. It is safe and reliable. It is a green therapy and a combination of folk and modern medicines worthy clinical application and popularization.
