Clinical Observation Of Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction In The Treatment Of Vascular Dementia Caused Bykidney-yang Deficiency And Sputum-blood Stasis

Objective: By observing the clinical effects of Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction,this paper aims to explore the effective mechanism of the treatment of Vascular Dementia(Va D)caused by kidney-yang deficiency and sputum-blood stasis,providing a basis for further prevention and treatment of vascular dementia in terms of TCM.Methods: 72 cases of patients with vascular dementia were randomly divided into a treatment group(37 cases)and a control group(35 cases).The Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction was given to the treatment group,while Nimodipine was given to the control group for 60 days.The research observed the changes of MMSE(Mini Mental Status Examination),ADL(Activity of Daily Living Scale),SDSVD(TCM syndrome score)as well as levels of the transmitter of brain signals,and evaluated the safety and clinical efficacy of Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction.Results:(1)The total clinical efficacy:The total effective rate of the treatment group and the control group were respectively 86.48% and 82.86%.Additionally,the treatment group exhibited significantly higher rate than the control group(P<0.05).The result indicates that Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction is more effective than Nimodipine overall in the treatment of Va D of which the syndrome-type discussed in the paper.(2)MMSE and ADL scores: The score of MMSE and ADL of the both groups increased to some extent and the improvement was obvious(P<0.05),which shows that there was an effect on the ability to perform cognitive function and activities of daily living.Nevertheless,the treatment group showed significantly higher scores of MMSE and ADL than the control group(P<0.05),which suggests that the Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction is more effective at improving cognitive function and the ability to perform activities of daily living than Nimodipine.(3)The TC M syndrome score: Before and after treatments,the patients in the treatment group was significantly improved than the control group(P<0.05)in terms of some symptoms,like cold limbs,obesity,diarrhea,pale tongue,deepand slow pulse.As a result,Wenyang Huayu decoction could be better than Nimodipine in treating Va D patients with those TCMsymptoms.(4)The brain neurotransmitter: Comparing neurotransmitter,such as Ach,DA,NE,between the two groups,the treatment group was significantly better than the control group(P<0.05).The result shows that the Wu zang Wenyang Huayu Decoction had more curative effects than Nimodipine on the treatment of this syndrome-type of Va D patients in terms-of the improvement of brain neurotransmitter.Conclusions: The conclusion can be drawn through the analysis of the scores of MMSE,ADL and TCM syndrome,as well as brain neurotra nsmitter of the two groups before and after treatments.The Wuzang Wenyang Huayu Decoction,without toxic and side effects,shows the safety and better efficacy than Nimodipine in the treatment of patients with Va D caused by kidney-yang deficiency and sputum-blood stasis,thus providing a real clinical value.
