Objective and Significance:The serum ghrelin levels in patients with chronic atrophic gastritis were detected to study the changes of serum ghrelin in chronic atrophic gastritis with the different severity and part of atrophy and provide more basis for the screening and primary diagnosis of chronic atrophic gastritis. Methods:We chose chronic gastritis patients from the gastroscope center of our hospital from March 2016 to December 2016,which accepted the electronic gastroscope and serum ghrelin detection as the research objects.According to the results of electronic gastroscope and pathological biopsy, chronic gastritis patients were divided into chronic non-atrophic gastritis group and chronic atrophic gastritis group. Then, according to the extent of atrophy, chronic atrophic gastritis were divided into mild chronic atrophic gastritis, moderate chronic atrophic gastritis and severe chronic atrophic gastritis, and according to the part of atrophy, chronic atrophic gastritis were divided into total atrophic gastritis and antrum atrophic gastritis.Serum ghrelin levels were measured by Enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay.Results:1.The serum ghrelin levels were significantly lower in patients with chronic atrophic gastritis than chronic non-atrophic gastritis(P<0.05),and the serum ghrelin levels were significantly lower in the subgroup of chronic atrophic gastritis than in the chronic non-atrophic gastritis(P<0.05).2.There was a significant difference between mild chronic atrophic gastritis, moderate chronic atrophic gastritis and severe chronic atrophic gastritis and serum ghrelin level decreased significantly with the progress of gastric mucosal atrophy(P<0.05).Serum ghrelin level was negatively associated with the severity of gastric mucosal atrophy(r=-0.593,P<0.05).3.The serum ghrelin levels were significantly lower in total atrophic gastritis than in antrum atrophic gastritis, and both were lower than in chronic non-atrophic gastritis(P<0.05).Conclusion:Serum ghrelin level is negatively associated with the severity of the gastric mucosal atrophy, effected by the part of the gastric mucosal atrophy, and the serum ghrelin level of total atrophic gastritis is lower than that of antrum atrophic gastritis. Therefore, serum ghrelin can be used as one of the markers for screening and primary diagnosis of chronic atrophic gastritis.
