Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of LUZP and to determine its clinic-pathological significance onpatients with liver cancer. Methods:we collected the hepatocellular carcinoma tissues(HCC),and adjacent non-cancerous liver tissues from 77 liver cancer patients who have underwent surgical resections, and then expression of LUZP mRNA was measured both in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and adjacent healthy tissues by real-time quantitative Pcr.Immunohistochemical methods. The results of immunohistochemistry were analyzed by the Semi quantitative scoring method.Based on the mean value of LUZPmRNA the para-cancerous liver tissues, and cancerous tissue were divided into high LUZP expression group and low LUZP expression group,to compare the clinical pathological features of different LUZP expression levels. Results:The expression levels of LUZP mRNA in HCC tissues and adjacent non cancerous tissue were 1.870.11,0.580.05 respectively. The expression level of LUZP mRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues was higher than adjacent non-cancerous tissues(P<0.05).The expression levels of LUZP.protein in HCC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues were(10.01.5),(4.00.5)respectively.Thus the expression of LUZP protein in HCC tissues was higher than non-cancerous tissues(P<0.05).Based on the mean value of LUZPmRNA in non-cancerous and HCC tissues, patients were divided into 49 cases with high expression of LUZP and 28 cases with low expression of LUZP.The portal vein invasion,TNM1+2stage and the incidence of recurrence were higher in high expression of LUZP group as compared with low expression group(P all<0.05).The total survival time for the patients with low expression of LUZP was 36 months, while for the patients with high expression of LUZP,it was 12 months. The survival time of patients with high expression of LUZP was shorter than that of patients with low expression(P<0.05,or=1.88,95%CI is 1.08-3.30).Conclusion:LUZP is a biological marker for prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Its high expression indicates poor prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
