ObjectivesTo investigate the possibility of Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant being used as a kind of air disinfectant which possess both safe and effective property,and has the ability to cut off airborne disease transmission pathway especially in crowded public area,following series of experiments were performed.Eye,skin and respiratory tract mucous membrane irritation tests were conducted to figure out intensity of irritation property of Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant.Laboratory study have been implemented to investigate factors which may have effect on the efficacy of Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant against bactericidal activity.On-the-spot air disinfection study have been done to evaluate air disinfection efficacy of Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant.MethodsEye,skin and respiratory tract mucous membrane irritation tests were conducted in compliance with the requirements and steps of Technical Standard For disinfection(version2002,by Ministry of health,People's Republic of China)and The Chemical irritation,allergic and hemolytic research technical guiding principles(4-1)[H]GPT,by State Drug administration in 2013.Orthogonal experimental design and natural sedimentation bacteria sampling method were used to evaluate the efficacy influencing factors during aerosol spray practice;Sampling sites have been selected according to the GB 15982-201 1;as an indicative index,killing rate was calculated based the enumeration of bacterial populations before and after treatment.Statistical analysis include Range analysis,Orthogonal design analysis of variance and repeated measures analysis of variance were performed using the SPSS 1 3.0 software.ResultsRabbit skin irritation experiment results show that skin irritation intensity score was 0.25 at the 1h time point,and score decreased to 0 during the following time points 24h,48h,72h.According to the skin irritation intensity evaluation standards,0.25 lies in the no irritation range(0?0.49),thus Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant belong to stimulus free disinfectant.Rabbit eye irritation test results demonstrate that the eye irritation reaction within 6 h score was 1.25;declined to 0.75 at 24 h,and the symptoms disappear when 48 h,no stimulation reactions was observed for the following hours.According to the rabbit eye stimulation intensity evaluation standard,the highest score(1.25)was still less than 3,thus the Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant(within experiment doses range)has no eye stimulation.Respiratory mucosa stimulation experiment show that no abnormal situation occur while infection.After that high dose group appear some mucosa stimulus reaction,the score was 0.125,nothing observed for the rest dose and control groups.According to the evaluation standard,average score between 0?0.4,thus belong to no mucosa stimulation.Orthogonal design experiment have shown that concentration of disinfectant was the main factor,the second was the relative humidity,reaction time(P<0.01 or<0.05)follows.but the temperature has no obvious(P>0.05)effect on that..Without considering the interaction of the factors,killing rate reach in it's highest(98.5%)when the concentration of 15 mg/L,temperature 20?,humidity 55%,40 min reaction time.Hospital air disinfection test results show that the colony number decreased immediately after disinfection,colony count in outpatient service and the physical therapy room down to its lowest at 30min,the lowest point appeared at 60min in waiting room;then over the time pass by,colony count rebounded slightly,at 180min the killing rate remained 75%.Campus dormitory and restaurant disinfection test results also show that colony count drops rapidly after disinfection,180min after the disinfection practice,killing rate remained at 77.6%level.Solid Oxidizing Reduction potential disinfectant was an effective bacteria killer.Repetitive measure analysis of variance by the single factor found samples taken in different time period varies significantly(P<0.01).Conclusions1.Solid Oxidizing Reduction potential disinfectant is an irritation free,safe disinfectant based on the rabbit skin and eyes,respiratory tract mucous membrane irritation experiment result.2.During bactericidal activity,concentration is the largest efficacy influencing factor of Solid Oxidizing Reduction potential disinfectant,followed by the relative humidity,and then the action time,the influence of the relative temperature is not obvious.3.Solid Oxidizing Reduction Potential Disinfectant is a kind of effective air sterilizer,can be used in public area such as hospital outpatient room,waiting room and physical therapy room and campus cafeteria and dormitory.
