Objective:To study the impact on cognitive function of the elderly in the community from simplified 24-movement Tai Chi.Methods:Elderly adults who is met the inclusion criteria in the community Gulou district of Fuzhou city around of sport center, were randomly divided into tai chi group and the control group. the Tai Chi Group excecised the simplified 24-movement Tai Chi, under the supvision of a nationally cerified Tai Chi instructor who had more than 5 years teaching experience in Fujian university of traditional Chinese Medicine,60 minutes each session and five sessions per week, for total 12 weeks. The Control Group kept going with their original way of life. Wechsler memory scale adult was used to test the participants' memory function before and after the intervention. TAP2.3 attention testing system was used to test their vigilance ability and attention before and after intervention. Stroop colour word transformation test compiled by Eprime psychology was used to test executive capacity of the participants. All the tests were tested before and after the intervention. Compare difference between the Training Group and the Control Group before and after the intervention.Results:1. After 12 weeks of training, there was significant difference before and after treatment between the Tai Chi Group and the Control Group in China revised wechsler memory scale score of scale score (P= 0.000< 0.05) and memory quotient (P= 0.000< 0.05). There was significant difference before and after treatment between the Tai Chi Group and the Control Group in subtest mind B (P= 0.029< 0.05), mental accumulation (P= 0.026< 0.05), the picture memory (P= 0.05), the picture recognition (P= 0.012< 0.05), picture image (P =0.000< 0.05), the back number (P=0.016<0.05). There are significant differences between the two groups statistically. There was no significant difference before and after treatment between the Tai Chi Group and the Control Group the in the mind A (P= 0.900> 0.05). the associative memory (P=0.067> 0.05), tactile memory (P= 0.688>0.05).2. Significant differences were noted before and after the intervension between the Tai Chi Group and the Control Group as following:the dispersive attention auditory reaction time SD (P=0.044<0.05), incompatible reaction SD (P=0.004<0.05), incompatible reaction SD (P=0.041<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in tests before and after intervention between the Tai Chi Group and the Control Group as following:the awareness has a warning tone response (P=0.357>0.05), the alert degree of reaction has a warning tone SD (P=0.34>0.05), no warning alert degree of sound response (P=0.321>0.05), the dispersive attention visual reaction time (P=0.92>0.05), the dispersive attention visual reaction time SD (P= 0.481>0.05), decentralized visual attention right number (P=0.236>0.05), the dispersive attention visual missing number (P=0.206>0.05), the dispersive attention auditory reaction time (P=0.085>0.05), the dispersive attention hearing right number (P=0.067>0.05), the dispersive attention auditory missing number (P=0.091>0.05), the compatibility test of incompatible reaction (P=0.318>0.05), the compatible right number (P=0.555>0.05), the compatible error number (P=0.290>0.05), the compatible missing number (P=0.099>0.05), the incompatible reaction (P=0.298>0.05), incompatible right number (P=0.568>0.05), incompatible the number of errors (P=0.395>0.05).3. There was statistical significance before and after the intervention between these two groups in the conformance testing with accuracy (P=0.000< 0.05) and reverse test accuracy (P=0.023<0.05). On the other hand, no significant difference found before and after the intervension between the Tai Chi Group and the Control group in tests as following:neutral testing accuracy (P=0.294>0.05), neutral reaction test (P=0.295>0.05), consistency test reaction time (P=0.104>0.05). There was no significant difference before and after the intervension between the Tai Chi Group and the Control Group in the tests as following:the reverse reaction test (P=0.057> 0.05).Conclusion:1.12 weeks of tai chi chuan training can obviously improve the elderly's memory.2.12 weeks of tai chi training for the elderly hearing dispersive attention and executive function of the control function has improved significantly, attention and executive Junction of other dimensions has a tendency to improve, but the effect is not obvious.
