Application Of Pharmaceutical Care Pathway On The Therapy Of Herpes Zoster

Objective:Herpes zoster, is a common dermatology disease, which is caused by the vari cella-zoster virus (Varicella-zoster virus, VZV). Most of herpes zoster patients are elderly , who was accompanied by higher treatment cost and longer period of hospitalization. The aims of study is to established pharmaceutical care pathway, which is adapted to the clinical pathway management of herpes zoster. Thus we can standardize the drug therapy of herpes zoster, decrease the incidences of drug adverse reaction (ADR), improve the compliance and satisfaction of patients, minimize the hospitalization expense and time.Methods:According the inclusion criteria and the exclusion criteria,100 patients who w ere in the herpes zoster clinical pathway management from 2012.1 to 2012.12, were sam pled at random as control group; another 100 patient who were in the Herpes zoster clini cal pathway management from 2013.9 to 2014.9 were sampled at random as the experim ental group. Clinical pharmacist participated in the patient management of experimental g roup with pharmaceutical service and guide for medicine thoughout the treatment. the stu dying targets involved in incidences of ADR, the compliance of patients, the hospitaliza tion expense and time, and patient satisfaction, et al.Results:In contrast to the control group, the days of hospital stay of experiment group wa s reduced by 2.75 day (P<0.05), the hospitalization expense was reduced by Y 258.3(P<0 .05), the drug expense was reduced by Y 724.69(P<0.05), the portion of dug expense was reduced by 8.46%(P<0.05); the incidences of ADR was reduced(P<0.05); the c ompliance (P<0.05) and satisfaction (P<0.05) of patients was increased.Conclusion:1. Pharmaceutical care pathway, which is adapted to the clinical pathway m anagement of Herpes zoster., can standardize the drug therapy and improve the rational u se of drug.2 Additon to clinical pathway, pharmaceutical care pathway could reduce the expense of hosiptialion and drug, lower the porption of dug expense, reducing length of st ay and the incidence of adverse reactions.3. clinical pharmacist participated in clinical dr ug treatment work, improving the compliance and satisfaction of patients. Pharmacists pr ofessional value can be realized in pharmaceutical care pathway.
