ObjectiveTo translate the Chinese version of Family Perception of Care Scale(FPCS)and test its reliability and validity. Through the evaluation of hospice services, to know the present situation of hospice care services in long-term-care facilities, and to know the influencing factors of the family satisfaction. To provide some evidence for the development of hospice care in the long-term-care facilities in China. MethodsAfter undergoing forward and backward translation of the FPCS by expert consultation and in-depth interview, 125 family members of the olds were recruited to complete the Chinese version of FPCS. The descriptive statistics were calculated including percentage, means and standard deviations(SD)for the domains of the scale; Factor analysis, correlation analysis and reliability analysis were applied to evaluate the validity and reliability of the scale.135 dying elderly family members to fill in the Chinese version of FPCS and One-way analysis of variance and multiple stepwise regression analysis was performed to explore the influencing factors of family satisfaction. In view of the complexity of hospice service, this study adopts the methods of qualitative research and quantitative research to understand the status quo of hospice care. This study through qualitative research method of 11 dying elderly family members were interviewed to further people to understand the views of the old-age care institutions hospice services and advice. Results(1)The content validity index of each item and the scale content validity index score were 1.0. The committee of experts considered that the scale can evaluate the pension institutions hospice situation well; Through the project analysis, the discrimination of each item were good, and there was no delete item(P < 0.01). In addition to item 21, the correlation coefficient of the items and the dimensions were high(P < 0.01). The varimax rotation factor analysis of the scale identified 6 principal factors and explained for 66.231% variances; The final scale consisted of 4 dimensions with 25 items; Cronbach?s ? coefficient of four domains were 0.752~0.859, the Split-half coeficient of four domains were 0.695~0.823. The Cronbach?s ? and Split-half coeficient for the whole scale were 0.875 and 0.811 respectively. the correlation coeficient between each item and its domain was high.(2)The result of One-way analysis of variance showed that gender, education level, economic situation, occupation and different pension institutions were statistically significant. Multiple regression analysis revealed that education level, economic situation, occupation and different pension institutions were entered the model.(3)The average of each item of FPCS scale was 5.09. The 4 dimensions' mean score ranging from 67%~82% of the total possible scores. The minimum scored five items were "religious services", "individualized nursing", "participate in the planning", "pain control" and "enough staffs". Family members were most concerned about the three items : "comfort nursing", "respect for the elderly" and " pain control". Through the analysis of the interview data, it was concluded three themes, "the understanding of hospice care", "impression of hospice care service for the aged care service" and "expectation of the hospice care for the future". Conclusions(1)The Chinese version of FPCS possesses acceptable validity and reliability in the setting of Chinese long-term-care facilities. As a tool for evaluation of hospice care, the scale shows that the science and value are high, but still need more indepth study to be done in a wider population.(2)Family members were satisfied with the hospice services provided by the facilities, but there were many aspects need the facilities to improve. Education level, economic situation, occupation and different pension institutions were main influencing factors of family satisfaction. The facilities should pay attention to strengthen the publicity of hospice services, establish professional palliative care team, strengthen the staff of professional skills, strengthen pension institutions management, and also hope that the national policy can give some support.
