Objective:To evaluate the effects of three root-end filling materials-i Root BP、mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA)and zinc oxideduring periapical microsurgery in animals by comparing X-ray and pathological biopsy after six months.To evaluate the effect of these three materials.Methods:The mandibular premolars of 4 beagle dogs were selected for study.Experimentally periapical lesions in teeth of dogs were induced.Roots were treated by root canal therapy,a week later micro-surgery were made.48 canals were divided into three groups,each group has 16 canals.The experimental groups: Control group: zinc oxide for root-end filling materials Group 1: the MTA for root-end filling materials Group 2: i Root BP for root-end filling materialsAfter six months,periapical radiography were taken and then the animals were sacrificed,then serial sections from the roots were prepared for histopathological.To evaluate the effects of zinc oxide、 i Root BP and MTA.Results:According to the X ray film,the percentages of success rate of six months postoperatively,the control group zinc oxide was 81.2%,i Root BP and MTA were 93.8% and 93.8%,respectively.There was no significantly difference between the three kinds of materials;Tissue pathological results showed that the degree of inflammation of MTA and i Root BP were slighter compared with zinc oxide,the difference was statistically significant.There was no significantly difference between i Root BP and MTA in number of inflammatory cells;The bone deposition rate of i Root BP and MTA is higher than zinc oxide,Hard tissues only can be observed deposit directly on MTA.Conclusion: X ray film tip: as retrograde root-end filling materials,zinc oxide 、MTA and i Root BP produced similar patterns of healing;Histopathological results suggest that hard tissue can be promoted to regenerate by all of them.There were a lighter tissue inflammation of the periapical tissue on BP and the MTA,MTA has the best biological compatibility.
