Objective To investigate the progress and the risk factors in epidemiological studies in cerebrovascular diseases among the Inner Mongolia population. It is the basis to make reasonable and effective prevention policies for the government. Methods According to a cluster and multistage sampling principal researchers selected Kailu County?Balinyou Township?Huimin District?Suniteyou Township and Linhe District for this survey places. On the basis of the check point of the national disease surveillance system,19315 citizens were randomly selected with cluster and multistage sampling method, which was under the proportion to the population size(PPS) principal. Each participant was invited to receive face to face standardized questionnaire interview, physical examination and the existing auxiliary examination to confirm the diagnosis.Results(1)The prevalence rate of stroke was 1812.06/10 000, with 2008.86/10 000 and1613.24/10 000 for males and females respectively,1489.13 / 100,000 and 2015.01 / 100,000 for the urban population and the rural population. The prevalence rates increased with age growth and was higher both in males(?2=4.248, P=0.039) and in suburb areas(?2=7.115,P<0.05).(2) Different educational level, the higher incidence happened to the less educational individuals, and the prevalence rate declining with age reduce. The widowed ? the Han nationality and the patients with medical insurance had higher chance to get it.(3) With the392.54 /100 000 annual incidence, there was no significant difference between the male and female(?2=0.38,P=0.846).However there was noticeable difference in suburb areas(?2=410.130,P=0.000)and the age( ?2=376.582,P=0.000).As to the annual mortality was149.67/100 000,the fatality rate was 15.14%.(4) The proportion of cerebral infarction was the highest(75.71%), besides the perception of recurrence in cerebral vascular diseases took part in 20%, The prevalence of cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction is higher in the elderly.(5) The awareness of the early symptoms of CVD was only 41.43% for the patients and their family members, only 2.29% of whom took 120 for help, went to the hospital through 120 only 8.57%,futher on took thrombolytic therapy only has accounted to 2.7% besides rehabilitation treatment was 8.3% in recovery period of cerebrovascular disease.(6)Hypertension, smoking and family history had much chance to get cerebrovascular disease patients. Conclusion The whole population in Inner Mongolia had higher prevalence ? annual incidence ? mortality and recurrence rate of stroke. The main type is cerebral ischemic stroke.as the result,Inner Mongolia region is still the hardest hit area of cerebrovascular disease. The growing population aging has been becoming serious problem, whereas the incidence was increase in younger people. Wasting too much handling time in the Pre-hospital and In-hospital, it was easy to miss the best time for the acute cerebral infarction; the patient with cerebrovascular didn't think highly of the rehabilitation therapy in disease recovery. We should intensify propaganda, establish effective and reasonable preventive measures to young and elderly CVD features. We should pay enough attention to the hypertension, smoking and family history in the cerebrovascular disease patients, and intensify propaganda aiming at establishing reasonable preventive measures of young and middle aged cerebral vascular disease. Municipal hospitals and basic level hospitals coordination should be strengthen, which would be led to the combination of prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular disease.
