Objective:Through clinical research, this article was to prove the curative of Du moxibustion treatment of ankylosing spondylitis by observing the main symptoms, physical signs, tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-?) and other inflammatory indicators of ankylosing spondylitis patients by using etanercept as a control, and at the same time discussing whether Du moxibustion can improve inflammation and control disease progression by reducing the excessive expression of inflammatory index TNF-?.Method: This research had filtered 60 cases of ankylosing spondylitis patients and randomly divided into Du moxibustion group(by Du moxibustion) 30 cases, the drug group(subcutaneous injection of etanercept treatment) 30 cases by using the random single blind method. Then two groups of the main symptoms, physical signs, TNF-? and other inflammatory indicators of ankylosing spondylitis patients were observed before and after treatment. Results:Comparison within groups: compared with the two groups themselves before and after treatment, there were very significant differences(P<0.01) of the scores of the lumbosacral pain, back pain, morning stiffness, figure of four test and inflammatory indicators(TNF-?, ESR, CRP); compared with the Du moxibustion group themselves before and after treatment, there were very significant differences(P<0.01) of the scores of the lumbar spinal restricted movement and the finger-ground distance, but drug group has significant difference(P<0.05); compared with the two groups themselves before and after treatment, there was no significant difference(P>0.05)of the scores of the pillow wall distance; compared with the Du moxibustion group themselves before and after treatment, there was significant difference(P>0.05) of the scores of the thoracic breathing degrees, but drug group has not significant difference(P>0.05). The total effective rate of Du moxibustion group was 93.33%, and drug group was 89.66%. Comparison between groups: compared in two groups after treatment, there were no significant differences(P>0.05) of the scores of the lumbosacral pain, back pain, morning stiffness, figure of four test and inflammatory indicators(TNF-?, ESR, CRP); compared in two groups after treatment, there were very significant differences(P<0.01)of the lumbar spinal restricted movement and the finger-ground distance; compared in two groups after treatment, there were not significant differences(P>0.05) of the total effective rate. Conclusions:Du moxibustion and etanercept both can obviously improve main symptoms, signs, TNF-? and other inflammatory indicators in patients with ankylosing spondylitis, and Du moxibustion improving lumbar spinal restricted movement and the finger-ground distance better than etanercept. Studies had shown that Du moxibustion could relief the main symptoms and physical signs, control the disease effectively and had significant clinical effect by decreasing the expression of TNF-? and blocking the TNF-? mediated inflammatory response of ankylosing spondylitis.
