Objective : To discuss the effects of balanced needling of Du and Ren meridians on post-stroke hand dysfunction, and to assess the effectiveness of balanced needling of Du and Ren meridians with an aim to establish foundation for seeking a more effective needling therapy in clinic.Methods:65 cases of patients with post-stroke hand dysfunction who met the inclusion criteria were selected through random number table and divided into the treatment group(33 cases) and the control group(32 cases). Conventional TCM basic treatment and rehabilitation training were given to the two groups. The treatment group adopted balanced needling which took needling of Ren and Du meridians as the primary thing coordinated with local point selection, while the control group employed traditional needling with average needle retaining of 30 min. One course of treatment contained 6 days of consecutive treatment and 1 day of rest. Therapeutic effect evaluation was conducted through Fugl-Meyer assessment(hand ang finger), modified Barthel index and the thumb-index finger tapping test upon the end of the fourth course of treatment.Results:(1)Overall efficacy evaluation: the total effective rate of the treatment group was 90.9%,the control group was 75%, the efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group. The efficiency of the two groups was compared with P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant.(2)Fugl-Meyer assessment(hand ang finger), with significant difference within groups before and after treatment(P < 0.05), and between groups after treatment(P < 0.05),indicating that the treatment group was better than the control group in improving upper limb movement function and activities of daily living, as well as in relieving upper limb neurologic impairment.(3)Barthel index rating scale: two groups of patients before and after treatment Barthel daily life ability score comparison P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant. After treatment, the treatment group compared with the control group, P<0.05, Barthel, the difference was statistically significant in improving the ability of daily life.(4)On the test count: two groups of patients before treatment, the standard deviation of the number of standard deviation is greater than the average, which shows that the data is very large, the data is not normal distribution. No statistical significance. Conclusion:Balanced needling of Du and Ren meridians enhanced the finger movement function scores and activity index of daily living in patients with post-stroke hand dysfunction, therefore, it was worthy of being applied in treating patients with post-stroke hand dysfunction.
