Objective: To provide relatively safe, standardized and effective massage therapy techniques for the prevention and treatment of nape myofascitis and its related diseases, clinical efficacy observation of scrubbing manipulation combined with moving cupping was conducted in this study for treating nape myofascitis. Methods: This study adopted randomized control method, a total of 64 cases of qualified subjects of nape myofascitiswere incorporated in the study.Scrubbing manipulation combined with moving cupping therapy was applied in the treatment group, while the control group adopted conventional massage therapy. Two groups were treated for the two courses of treatment in a therapeutic pattern of one regular massage every other day, one course of treatment for 14 days/6 times, altogether the treatment lasted for 28 days with one day off every week. Visual analogue scale(VAS) and functional disability index(Oswestry) were evaluated before and after treatment of the included patients. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was 96.86% and 81.25%, respectively. There was statistical significance in the comparison between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference between groups in the VAS score and functional index, indicating the group-to-group had comparability. After treatment, the VAS score and function index(Oswestry)of the two groups significantly decreased. Besides, there was significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Scrubbing manipulation combined with moving cupping therapy for treating nape myofascitis(wind-cold-dampness syndrome) is superior to the conventional massage treatment regarding clinical signs/symptoms score and total effective rate. Furthermore, scrubbing manipulation combined with moving cupping therapy for treating nape myofascitis has obvious advantages in terms of efficacy compared to the conventional massage treatment.Collectively, scrubbing manipulation combined with moving cupping therapy method has the advantages of simple operation, convenience, no side effect, and more easily to be accepted by patients, which are worth popularizing.
