Meta-analysis Of Functional Dyspepsia With Traditional Chinese Medicine Combined With Antidepressant

Objectives: To evaluate and analyze the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine combined with anti depression drugs in the treatment of functional dyspepsia(FD) by the method of Meta analysis.Methods: According to the requisition of systematic review of evidence-based medicine established strict inclusion and exclusion criterion, and selected researches on Chinese medicine combined with antidepressant drugs for the treatment of FD which were suitable for the criterion through researching study information database. And then evaluated the quality of the researches according Jadad standard of perfection. Statistical software Rev Man 5.2 was used for Meta-analysis in efficiency, clinical symptoms integration, anxiety and depression symptom score and safety.Results: Collected 490 related clinical controlled trials, finally brought into 28 qualified articles and including 2566 patients. Literature research methodology quality assessment was not high, only 5 high quality documents. The main problem was that the random method was unknown, and did not use the randomization concealment and blind method, and did not explain the reasons for withdrawal. The Meta analysis results showed that traditional Chinese medicine combined with antidepressants in treatment of FD of the total efficiency, clinical symptom score and anxiety and depression symptoms improvement are superior to conventional western medicine group, simple anti depression medicine group and routine western medicine combined with antidepressant drugs group, and incidence of adverse reactions and the recurrence rate are both lower. Dispersing stagnated liver-qi and invigorating the spleen or harmonizing stomach combined with antidepressant medication than western medicine group is better both in efficiency, clinical symptom score and especially dispersing stagnated liver-qi and invigorating the spleen method in anxiety and depression symptoms improvement. However there are no obvious advantages in incidence of adverse reactions between Chinese medicine combined with antidepressant and western medicine, but the recurrence rate of dispersing stagnated liver-qi and invigorating the spleen method is lower.Conclusions: Meta analysis showed that traditional Chinese medicine combined with anti depression drugs in the treatment of functional dyspepsia than simple antidepressants, conventional western medicine and conventional western medicine combined with antidepressant drugs have certain advantages. Dispersing stagnated liver-qi and invigorating the spleen combined with antidepressants is particularly evident in improving patients clinical symptoms and mental state. But the clinical trials are low quality. There need more high quality and huge quantity clinical trials to clarify the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine combined with antidepressant in the treatment of functional dyspepsia.
