Objective: To summarize and study the clinical experience and medication characteristics of Prof. Hou Yufen based the efficacy of the prominent Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor in the therapy of arteriosclerosis obliterans(ASO), which can promote the inheritance of the academic thought and the clinical research of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of dominant diseases.Methods: According to the inclusion criteria, 60 patients with ASO of Qi deficiency and blood stasis were selected. Through pre and post treatment, we recorded the patients' syndrome integrals, ankle brachial Index, blood flow perfusion, transcutaneous oxygen, hypersensitive C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate.Results: After the treatment, the results show that the clinical symptoms and signs were significantly improved(83.33%). The clinical syndrome integrals were decreased significantly(P<0.01). The ABI was increased significantly(P<0.01). The baseline value of the blood flow perfusion was increased significantly(P<0.01). The value and the increasing amount after heating of the blood flow perfusion were increased significantly(P<0.01). The transcutaneous oxygen was increased significantly(P<0.01). The hypersensitive C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were decreased significantly(P<0.01).Conclusion: The clinical experience of Prof. Hou Yufen who is one of the prominent Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors was summarized for the “combination of disease and syndrome, internal and external therapy used simultaneously, good at using nourish qi and invigorate the blood circulation medicine”, which can significantly enhance quality of life, improve patients' clinical symptoms and limb blood flow, delay the progress of ASO and reduce the inflammatory reaction.
