Objective: Synthesis meets the requirements of light-activated adhesive called PGSA,and its DA value is approximately equal to 0.5,and is able to pass through the simulation experiment. To explore the feasibility and superiority of PGSA in repair of peripheral nerve injury.Methods:(1) Synthesis of PGSA : First step, synthesized poly glyceryl sebacic(PGS) with glycerin and sebacic acid;Second step, synthesized poly(glycerol sebacate- acrylate)(PGSA) with poly glyceryl sebacic(PGS)and acrylate.(2) Animal experiment: The subjects were a total number of 20 adult male rats, which were randomly divided into group A and group B and established rats model of the sciatic nerve transversal injuries. The two groups of rats' sciatic nerve were repaired by different surgical approach, group A were repaired with stitches and group B were repaired with PGSA.(3) Data statistics and analysis: The study was performed over a period of three monthes postoperatively according to General Observation,Electrophysiological Study, Leg Triceps Wet Weight Proportion Test andHistological Study. The data was analyzed statistically.Results:(1)Synthesis met the requirements of PGSA,and its DA value was approximately equal to 0.5,and was able to pass through the simulation experiment.(2) The two groups of rats' sciatic nerve were healed well according to General Observation.(3) According to the results of statistical analysis of Electrophysiological Study, Leg Triceps Wet Weight Proportion Test and Histological Study,we found that there were significant differences between two group in each indicator(P<0.05).Conclusion: A novel light-activated adhesive called PGSA is feasible for repair of rat sciatic nerve transversal injuries. Compared with direct suture,PGSA have superiority to repair the rat sciatic nerve transversal injuries.
