Objective: To understand the psychological states of infertile women and the reason and the influence of different psychological states on the outcome of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET).Methods: On the day that oocytes were retrieved, the infertile women were asked to complete the questionnaires and psychological scales. The contents include: the duration of infertility, levels of education, source of pressure and psychological states. The outcome of IVF-ET was obtained by referring to the patient's clinical data, including the number of eggs, the normal fertilization rate, the high quality embryo rate, clinical pregnancy rate and abortion rate.According to the study of different cultures were divided into three groups: primary and secondary school and university groups. Then these three groups were grouped according to duration of infertility, age and mental state. While the subjects were divided into four groups depending on the state of mind: the normal group, depression group, anxiety and helplessness group. Results: 1.More than 40% of the women who began IVF-ET treatment have more than 5 years of infertility, about 50% of target respondents who began treatment of infertility before 30 years old.And 85% felt the pressure from family and society because of infertility, there were 15.9% of them had symptoms of depression,30.1% had the performance of anxiety and 40.0% felt helplessness.2.Combined with China's population education level census, the most of infertile women who sought IVF-ET treatment were the degree of university. With the increasing educational level, the number of women whose duration of infertility more than 5 years was fewer and fewer, among them the primary and below education level was significantly higher than that of other cultures(P<0.0125).In the old age group, the number of primary school and below the level of education was obviously higher than other levels of culture(P<0.0125).The higher level of education, the lower probability of depression and anxiety, and the most number of depression was in the primary and below education level(P<0.0125).3.Depression and anxiety has significant influence on the outcome of IVF:the normal fertilization rate and high quality embryo rate were the highest in the normal population group;the normal fertilization rate, high quality embryo rate, implantation rate and clinical pregnancy rate of the depression group were the lowest and distinctly lower than the normal group(P<0.0125);the anxiety group's high quality embryo rate was lower than the normal group(P<0.0125);there was no significant difference in all index of pregnancy outcomes between the helplessness group and normal group(P>0.00833).4.The level of Depression was negatively correlated with clinical pregnancy rate(r_s=-0.975,P<0.001),and the degree of anxiety and the clinical pregnancy rate was also negatively correlated(r_s=-0.903,P<0.002).Conclusion: 1.The popularity of reproductive health knowledge and raising awareness of assisted reproductive technology is very helpful to the infertility women seeking IVF treatment.2.The greater the psychological stress of infertile women, the greater the degree of depression and anxiety, the more obvious the adverse effects on the outcome of IVF-ET.3.To improve the attitudes of the social and family to infertile women, strengthen the psychological intervention and social work intervention on infertile women, and improving medical conditions, reducing treatment costs and improving the degree of social culture can reduce the psychological pressure of infertile women and improve the outcome of IVF-ET.
