| Objective To analyse clinical characteristics and treatment effects in different ages with sudden sensorinerural hearing loss. Methods To compare clinical characteristics and curative effects of 396 cases of unilateral sudden sensorinerural hearing loss from Sep, 2013 to Sep, 2015 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, the patients were divided to 3 groups: the pediatric group(26cases)-≤18years, adult group(295cases)-18~60years and the old group(75cases)-≥60years. All cases were treated with drugs to supply nutrition to nerve and drugs to improve circulation and Dexamethasone intratympanic. Results Pediatric patients accounted for the lowest proportion(6.57%). The gender and side in 3 groups showed no significant difference(P > 0.05), Pediatric patients has less with tinnitus(50.0%) and less patients whose onset time is less than 3 weeks(53.85%)P < 0.0017. There are 19.23% of the children had history of upper respiratory tract infection before, higher than that of the adult group(P = 0.004). There are more patients in old group whose hearing loss is in the degree of severe and extremely severe(76.0%) than that of the adult group(P =0.016). And there are less patients in old group with the type in low tone frequencies( 2.67%) and more with the type in total deafness(54.67%) than the adult group ’s(15.59%,36.95%). And the old group has more patients with systemic diseases(57.33%) and the hearing impairment of the other ear( 54.67%,P < 0.001). All patients’ total effective rate was 68.69%.The pediatric group’s, the adult group’s and the old group’s total effective rate respectively are 53.85%、72.20%、60.0%, the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.0017). The old group’s complete recovery rate is 9.33%, which is significantly lower than the adult group’s(29.49%,P < 0.001).Conclusion 1.Pediatric patients are easily to be ignored and rarely in clinic, their etiology may be virus infection, onset time is longer, with tinnitus symptoms are less, It has no significant difference when the degree and types of hearing lossand the effects of treatment compared with those of the other two groups of patients. 2.Adult patients have the highest proportion and more patients with type in low frequency hearing, and have better treatment effects. 3.The old group has more patients with systemic diseases and the hearing impairment of the other ear, their hearing impairment is severer and more easily occured in high tone frequencies and total deafness. The total efficiency of treatment and the other two groups had little difference, but complete recovery rate is low. |
