Objective In order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of UC and provide a reference for clinical treatment and prognosis, we study the clinical features of Ulcerative colitis disease(UC) and identify the factors that may influence the risk of relaps. Methods The clinical data of 112 cases with UC from August 2011 to August 2014 were analyzed retrospectively. Their clinical profiles including onset age, sex, location of diseases, severity and extent of disease, clinical course, extra-intestinal manifestations, colonoscopy and histopathologic features, laboratory results, therapies and follow-up data were analyzed. Results There were 60 males and 52 females, age averaged 41.2 years, with two peak ages between 30~39 years old and 50~59 years old. 73 patients had a disease course less than 10 years, 23 patients had a disease course of 5~10 years, 16 patients had a disease course more than 10 years. All Patients had gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea(94.6%), mucous stool with pus and blood(82.1%), abdominal pain(78.6%). Systemic symptoms including weight lost(35.7%), fever(20.5%) and fatigue(10.7%). 23.2% of patients had extra-intestinal manifestations such as joint pain(7.1%), oral lesions(10.7%) and skin lesions(5.4%). Lesions of UC were located in the rectum(11.3%), left colon(25.5%), total colon(63.2%).In all cases 25.0% were mild, 54.5% were moderate and 20.5% were severe; 75.5% were chronic relapsing,15.5% were first onset, 6.3% were chronic persistent, 1.0% were fulminant type. Endoscopic features included diffused congestive edema of intestinal mucosa(81.3%), or widespread erythema, erosion and ulceration(76.8%). Histological manifestations mainly showed acute or chronic inflammations and one case developed into colon cancer. Lab studies showed that platelets(PLT) counts increaseed, c-reactive protein(CRP) increased, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) increased, hemoglobin(HGB) decreased and albumin(ALB) decreased in 54.5%, 16.1%, 22.3%, 46.4% and 33.0% of patients, respectively. The platelets(PLT) counts,CRP, ESR, HGB and ALB in severe group were all significant difference with mild and moderate group(P<0.05). 108 patients got recovered by drug treatment and the recurrence rate is 58.9%. Single factor and multiple-factors analysis showed that age, course of disease, maintenance treatment and extra-intestinal manifestations were risk factors for recurrence of UC.Conclusion The ratio of male to female is corresponding, The incidence age of UC was 41.2 years old, and peak ages were from 30 to 49 years old and 50~59 years old. Lesions of UC are commonly loeated in the rectum, sigmoid colon and left colon. The major symptoms of UC are diarrhea, mucous stool with pus and blood and abdominal pain. Endoscopic features included diffused congestive edema and wide spread erythema, erosion and ulceration. Histological manifestations were acute or chronic inflammations. The level of PLT, CRP, ESR, HGB and ALB play important roles in the disease and can be known as diagnostic and clinical typing standard. 108 patients got recovered by drug treatment but have a high recurrence rate. Single factor and multiple-factors analysis showed that ages, course of disease, maintenance treatment and extra-intestinal manifestations were risk factors for recurrence of UC.
