Objective:To evaluate children aged 10-12 in Zhengzhou the orthodontic treatment need and investigate the impact of oral health in daily life on the children aged 10-12 with different degrees of malocclusion through the Child-Oral Impact on Daily Performance(Child-OIDP) in order to confirm psychosomatic condition and give a suggestion to oral health.Methods:To collect 176 cases of children aged 10-12 in Zhengzhou who were examined in the Department of Stomatology of children's hospital of Zhengzhou from June 2013 to June 2014 and evaluate children aged 10-12 the index of orthodontic treatment need using Dental Health Component and Aesthetic Component; 169 children aged 10-12 completed Child-OIDP to investigate the impact of oral health in daily life and the relevance.Results:The results indicate that from DHC,32.4% of children aged 10-12 in176 cases had great need for orthodontic treatment need. From AC,15.3% of children had great need for orthodontic treatment need; the perception of malocclusion and the intention to treat had significant difference between parents with different education.71.6% of 10-12 years children in169 cases had been affected by oral problem in at least one usual routine. The most generally affected by oral problem were eating, smile and brushing, which occupied 50.8%,32.5% and 24.3% respectively. The differences in Child-OIDP score and malocclusion with different degrees were significant. The Child-OIDP score is positively related to DHC grading. The higher grading DHC, the higher score Child-OIDP.Conclusion:32.4% of 10-12 years children in Zhengzhou had great need for orthodontic treatment need; The perception of malocclusion and the intention to treat had significant difference between parents with different education, Only half of parents had agreed to receive treatment for their children after communication; Malocclusion have an general influence on oral health in children's daily life; The more severe children's malocclusion, the stronger the influence of oral health in children's daily life; More studies with large sample will be required for further discussion.
