Objective: The purpose of the subject is to verify if there is difference of lung function before surgery, between those whose clinical characters are different.Another purpose is to verify if FEV1/FVC(forced expiratory volume in one second, forced vital capacity),can be a risk factor that foresees prognosis of lung cancer patients. Methods: We collect lung cancer cases after surgery of department of thoracic surgery of the first affiliated hospital of Dalian Medical University from January 2008 to December 2013,and all the cases are proved to be lung cancer by pathology. The data after surgery was obtained by telephone or outpatient service. After surgery, the follow-up visits were carried out every three months in the first year, and in the second year they were carried out every half year, and after the third year they were carried out every year. After obtaining surviving conditions of patients after surgeries,248 lung cancer cases were collected to implement the subject. All the collected cases have the intact basic data such as the sex,the age,the degree of differentiation, the size of tumor,TNM(tumor, node, metastasis),methods of surgeries, pleura metastasis, lymph gland metastasis,FVC、FEV1、MVV(maximal voluntary ventilation)、FEV1/FVC and five year survival. The retrospective study used t-test or analysis of variance to explore whether lung function(FVC、FEV1、MVV 和 FEV1/FVC)has dramatic difference,to patients whose clinical characters(the sex,the age,the degree of differentiation, the size of tumor,TNM,methods of surgeries, pleura metastasis, lymph gland metastasis)are different. The study used Kaplan-Merier Method to verify if FEV1/FVC can be a risk factor to predict the prognosis of lung cancer patients after surgeries. And the survival curve was got by spss.In the study, when FEV1/FVC is lower than 70%,it is considered to be abnormal. In the subject,spss20.0 was used to analyze the data, and When p<0.05,we assume that there is statistical difference. Results: The statistical result that analyzed patients’ clinical characters and lung function indicates that FVC has statistical difference between the groups whose age is below 62 and the group whose age is not.Patients of different ages and sexes have different MVV,statistically. Results of FEV1/FVC show that FEV1/FVC varies dramatically, among patients of different pleura metastasis conditions or TNM.Analysis of prognosis proves that patients of different differentiation degree, size of tumor, metastasis conditions of lymph gland,TNM have statistically different prognosis after surgeries.Between groups of normal FEV1/FVC and abnormal FEV1/FVC,no apparently different prognosis appears.Analysis of lung cancer patients of stage Ⅰ indicates that five-year-survivals have dramatically difference, between patients of normal FEV1/FVC and abnormal FEV1/FVC.In the group of normal FEV1/FVC,the five-year-survival is 94.1%,while in the group of abnormal FEV1/FVC,the five-year-survival is 74.8%.Conclusion: To lung cancer patients of stageⅠ,FEV1/FVC is one of the risk factors that affect prognosis.
