Objective: To observe the clinical effects, safety and application scope of the prescription of Jiawei Chaishao Liujun granular using by the freeing liver and strengthening spleen combined with Kangfuxin solution retention enema on treating ulcerative colitis, explore and discuss from theory and clinic and meanwhile understand the characteristics of UC by collecting epidemiological data.Methodology: 60 patients with liver depression and spleen deficiency type UC that met inclusion criteria were divided into two groups, including 33 cases in treatment group who received Jiawei Chaishao Liujun granular twice a day per os as first-line therapy and added or subtracted dose based on symptoms and 27 cases in control group who received salicylazosulfapyridine per os,4 times a day,1.0g each time. Both groups were given Kangfuxin solution retention enema at the same time, once a day and one month as a course. They were observed after 2 courses and given a 6-month follow-up after observation. The differences in clinical effects, safety and application scope of this proved recipe between both groups were observed.Meanwhile, epidemiological data of UC were collected and the characteristics of UC were understood. Results: 1.Epidemiological data: 1.Our study recruited 60 patients who received UC treatment with Jiawei Chaishao Liujun granular regularly from May 2014 to Feb 2016,including 33 males and 27 females. The ratio was1.22:1.The age ranged from 63 to 19,36.43±10.72 on average, mostly between 30 and 39,accounting for 33.33% of all subjects. In the present study,.The average duration was 25.68±15.105 months. The incentives were diet(26.67%),emotion(50%),fatigue(15%),weather(5%)and others(3.33%)respectively.The main manifestations were diarrhea in 53 cases(88.33%),abdominal pain(83.33%)in 50 cases, mucopurulent bloody stool in47 cases(78.33%),mucous stool in 23 cases(38.33%),tenesmus in 25 cases(41.67%),fever in 3 cases(5.00%)and extra-intestinal manifestations in 8cases,such as arthritis and arthralgia in 2 cases(3.33%).Among them,5 cases(8.33%)had a single clinical manifestation,16 cases(26.66%)with two clinical manifestations and 45 cases(75.00%)with 3 and/or more of the above symptoms. The severity was principally mild and moderate, including principally mild in 26 cases(43.33%),principally mild in 28 cases(46.67%)and heavy in 6 cases(10.00%).The disease stage was mainly active stage, including active stage in 40 case(66.67%),Remission stage in 20 case(33.33%).The clinical type was mainly chronic recurrent and chronic persistent, including first episode type in 11 case(18.33%),chronic recurrent in24 case(40.00%),chronic persistent in 25 case(41.67%).The scope of lesion was mainly left hemicolon, including rectosigmoid colon in 17 cases(28.33%),left hemicolon in 28 cases(46.67%)and total colon in 15 cases(25.00%).2.Effects: After treated one month by corresponding means, the clinical effect evaluation, endoscopic index score and TCM syndrome score of treatment group were obviously lower than those of control group and statistically significant(P< 0.05).These symptoms of treatment group like abdominal pain, diarrhea, mucus, pus and blood stool, tenesmus TCM syndrome score were significantly lower than those before treatment, there issignificant difference(P < 0.05);In comprehensive effects, the total effective rate was 96.96% in treatment group and 77.77% in control group. The recurrence rate of treatment group was lower than that of control group. The treatment group total recurrence was 5 cases(15.1%),the control group total recurrence was 10 cases(37%),The differences between both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).In control group, differences between different age groups, difference durations, different severities and different scopes of lesion(p>0.05)were not statistically significant. Conclusion: 1.Prompt in this study,There is no significant difference between incidences of male and female in the UC patients. It mainly occurs to youths. The duration is short, principally 5 years. The incentives are mainly diet and emotion.Clinical manifestations are mainly diarrhea, abdominal pain and mucopurulent bloody stool. The disease type is mainly chronic recurrent and chronic persistent. The severity is mainly mild and moderate. The lesion site is mainly left colonic involvement.2.Jiayao Chaishao Liujun granular has an obvious therapeutic effect on liver depression and spleen deficiency type UC.Basically it has no toxic or side effects. The incidence of adverse reactions is low.The total effective rate(96.96%)of treatment group is obviously higher than that of control group(77.77%).The recurrence rate of treatment group(15.1%)was lower than that of control group(37.0%).There is no significant difference between any age,any duration, any severity and any scope of lesion in effects after taking this recipe.
