Objective: In this paper,we conducted the research on therapeutic efficiency by means of acupuncturing the “tou wu xue” and treating ischemic vertigo of posterior circulation through selecting acupionts by syndrome differentiation. Our aim is to find the therapeutic efficiency and effect rule of acupuncturing the “tou wu xue” and treating ischemic vertigo of posterior circulation through selecting acupionts by syndrome differentiation. To find a characteristic treatment of tcm which is effective in treatment,user-friendly control, safe without toxic side-effect,economical and practical, easy popularization and to have a preliminary discussion on its mechanism of action. Methods:The 60 selected cases which meets the standard of this project were randomly divided into the trial group and the control group. There are 30 cases in each group. In trial group, the treatment was conducted by acupuncturing the “tou wu xue” and treating ischemic vertigo of posterior circulation through selecting acupionts by syndrome differentiation.Once a day. There are 10 days in a course. After 2 courses the curative effect was concluded. In control group, patients were given flunarizine asoral formulation, taken 10 mg once every night before sleeping.there are 10 days in a course. After 2 courses the curative effect was concluded. The index of TCD and blood rheology, the change of symptom score in both groups were observed for efficacy evaluations. Results: 1)The index of TCD and blood rheology, the change of symptom score in both groups had improved after treatment.the improvement in the trial group is more ovbvirous than that in the control group.Difference between the two groups has statistical significance.(P<0.05).2)There are 2cases were cured,22 cases got remarkable effect,5 cases were improved, and 1 case was inefficient after treatment in the trial group. The total effective rate was 96.67%.There isn't any case who was cured,12 cases got remarkable effect,14 cases were improved, and 4 case was inefficient after treatment in the control group. The total effective rate was 86.67%.Difference between the two groups has statistical significance.(P<0.05).Conclusions: The patient who had a symptom of ischemic vertigo of posterior circulation can be significantly improved by means of acupuncturing the “fivepoints on head” and treating ischemic vertigo of posterior circulation through selecting acupionts by syndrome differentiation, which can regulate the blood flow velocity, improve circulation, reduce the viscosity of whole blood. And this method is safe and effective in dizziness which is due to ischemic vertigo of posterior circulation. It has a definite effect and easy to operate. This method is low at cost and risk, more effective. It is worth to popularize and apply in clinical and to further research.
