OBJECTIVETo study the expressions and role of TGF-?1(transforming growth factor, TGF- beta 1) and TNF-?(Tumor Necrosis factor alpha, TNF alpha) in the type 2 diabetic nephropathy. METHODSSixty-two patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus(T2DM) were selected in the study,37 males and 25 females, the average age was 58.93±8.6 years old. The patients were divided into three groups according to the quantity of urinary albumin:(1) DM without albuminuria(albuminuria level< 20?g/min);(2) DM with trace albuminuria(albuminuria level between 20-200?g/min).(3) DM with large number of albuminuria(albuminuria level> 200?g/min). Twenty sex and age-matched healthy volunteers were recruited as control group. Expressions of serum TGF-?1 and TNF-? were measured by Enzyme linked immunosorbent essay(ELISA). All clinical and laboratory data were collected and analyzed by SPSS17.0 software, P values less than 0.05 were considered significant. RESUILT1.The expressions of serum TGF-?1 and TNF-? increased significantly in DM with albuminuria group than in the normal group.2. The level of serum TGF-?1 and TNF-? had positive correlation with fasting blood protein, glycosylated hemoglobin and glycated serum protein, P < 0.05.3. The level of serum TGF-?1 and TNF-? had positive correlation with ESR and CRP, P < 0.05.4. The level of serum TGF-?1 and TNF-? had significantly positive correlation with the quantity of urinary albumin, P<0.05. CONCLUSIONHyperglycemia lead to the expressions of serum TGF-?1 and TNF-? increase, and the two factors can attend the inflammation and urinary protein producing processes in DN.
