Exploration Of Diagnosis And Treatment Of Cat Corneal Ulcer

Corneal ulcer is an ophthalmological disease with high incidence,hard to cure,and loss of vision.Therefore,to investigate the pathogenesis and repair characteristics of corneal ulcer in cats and to find an effective diagnosis and treatment program for corneal ulcers is a research subject for veterinary clinics.In this study,according to the size and depth of the ulcer area after the cat corneal staining,samples were divided into three grades:mild,moderate and severe.We use two kinds of broad-spectrum antibiotics-NPB ointment(Neomycin,3.5 mg/g polymyxin B,10000IU/g,bacitracin,0.25 mg/g)and TB.Eye ointment(Oxytetracycline,5 mg/g,Polymyxin B,10000 IU/g)by the way of topical eye drops and surgical treatment for corneal ulcers in cats.Statistical software was used to analyze the differences between treatments to evaluate different therapies.Research result,1.In this study,the therapeutic effect of drug treatment on different degrees of corneal ulcers in cats showed that 13 eyes were cured(13/23,56.52%),9 eyes were effective(9/23,39.13%)and 1 eye was invalid(1/23,4.35%)after treatment in 23patients with mild eyes,and the total effective rate was 95.65%(22/23);6 eyes were cured(6/15,40%),7 eyes Effective,(7/15,46.67%)and 2 eyes ineffective(2/15,13.33%)after 15eyes being moderate treatment,total effective rate was 86.67%(13/15);in 10 cases of severe eye treatment,2 eyes cured(2/10,20%),2 eyes were effective(2/10,20%)and 6 eyes were invalid(6/10,60%),and the total effective rate was 40%(4/10).The therapeutic effect of corneal ulcers on different degrees of illness was statistically significant by rank sum test(H=8.884,P=0.012).The total effective rate showed that the total effective rate of mild and moderate diseased cats was significantly higher than that of severely affected cats,and the difference was statistically significant(X~2=14.59,P=0.001)by chi-square test.2.The therapeutic effect of NPB ointment and TB eye ointment on corneal ulcers in cats with different disease levels in this study showed that of the 24 eyes treated with NPB ointment alone,13 eyes were cured(13/24,54.17%),7 Eyes were effective(7/24,29.16%)and 4 eyes were ineffective(4/24,16.67%)and the total effective rate was 83.33%(20/24);8eyes in 24 cases treated with TB eye ointment alone were cured(8/24,33.33%),11 eyes were effective(11/24,45.84%)and 5 eyes were invalid(5/24,20.83%).The total effective rate was79.17%(19/24);the therapeutic effect of different drug treatments was not statistically significant(P=0.216)after the rank sum test.The total effective rate showed that the total effective rate of NPB ointment was the highest,but compared with the total effective rate of TB ointment,the statistical difference by chi-square test was not significant.(X~2=0.137,P=0.712)3.Surgical treatment of corneal ulcer results showed that all ulcers in 6 cases of corneal debridement were cured.Conjunctival flap covering surgery for corneal ulcer was cured in 3cases.The cure rate of surgical treatment of corneal ulcer was 100%(3/3).4.When the disease is severe,the cure rate of surgical treatment of cat corneal ulcer is higher than that of drug treatment.5.This study compared the incidence of NPB and TB ointment complications in the treatment of corneal ulcers in cats(scar,cloud bleb,leukoplakia,and corneal perforation).The complication rate was not significantly different(P>0.05)by chi-square test.In the drug treatment group and the surgical treatment group,the complication rate was tested by Chi-square test and the difference was significant(P<0.05).In cases with low levels of illness,post-operative complications were less than those with high levels of illness.In summary,From the point of view of the therapeutic effect of drug treatment on corneal ulcer in cats,the lighter the degree of disease is,the better the treatment effect is,and the worse the disease is,the worse the treatment effect is.There was no difference between NPB ointment and TB ointment in the treatment of mild,moderate,and severe corneal ulcers.For cases in which drug treatment is ineffective,surgical treatment should be performed as soon as possible.Avoid the deterioration of the condition and the increase of complications after surgery.
