In order to compare the drought and cold resistance of triticale and rye and select high quality forage with excellent drought and cold resistance suitable to be planted in northern China,rye materials including Ganyin No.1,Black Feeding,and lines C15,C33,C39,Z7,and Z27,triticale materials including Shida No.1,triticale lines C31,P2,and P4 were used as the experimental materials.During the experiment,the rainfall was controlled using the anti rain shed.At the drought stress days of 7 d,14 d.At 21 d,35 d,49 d,and 63 d,morphological parameters(plant height,the number of tillers,root dry weight,dry weight above ground)and physiological and biochemical parameters(relative water content,content of the soluble sugar,SOD activity,POD activity,CAT activity)were determined.Besides,the relative water content,soluble sugar content,SOD activity,POD activity and CAT activity were determined at different low temperature stress days(0°C,-10°C,-20°C,-30°C).Main results were as follows,1.Along with the intensification of drought,relative number of tillers,dry weight of roots and aboveground biomass,and the relative water content decreased,but relative plant height,content of the soluble sugar and CAT activity increased.The comprehensive analysis showed that the drought resistance of the four rye materials was.P2>P4>C31>Shida No.12.In terms of drought resistance of rye,with the increase of the drought stress days,relative plant height,number of tillers,dry weight of roots and aboveground biomass,and the relative water content also decreased,but the number of leaves,content of the soluble sugar and the activity of SOD and POD increased.Comprehensive evaluation results showed that the drought resistance of 7 rye materials was as follows: Black Feeding>C15>C33>C39?Ganyin No.1>Z7>Z27.3.In terms of cold resistance,along with the intensification of low temperature,relative water content in triticale leaves decreased,content of soluble sugar,SOD and POD increased first and then decreased,CAT increased.Comprehensive evaluation results based on subordinate function method showed that the cold resistance of the 4 triticlae materials was P4> C31> Shida No.1>P2.4.In rye leaves,content of the soluble sugar,activities of SOD and POD peaked when the temperature was-20°C.CAT activity enchanced with the intensification of low temperature.Comprehensive evaluation results showed that the cold resistance of 7 rye materials was C15>C33>Black Feeding>Z7>Z27>C39>Gan Yin 15.Paired T-test showed that the drought and cold resistance of triticale were stronger than that of rye.
