Study Of Chieh-qua Cultivation Techniques In Early Spring

Chieh-qua(Benincasa hispida Cogn.var.Chieh-qua How.)belongs to Cucurbitaceae Benincasa melon kind.Chieh qua is a variety of Wax Gourd.Chieh qua originated from south china and plant in Guangdong,Guangxi and Hainan provinces.Chieh qua is rich in nutrition and unique in flavor.It also has the effect of clearing heat,relieving summer heat,diuresis and detumescence.Both old and young Chieh qua can be stir fry,boil,or make soup,the better is young.Now Chieh qua has become a characteristic vegetable for the circulation system of transporting the vegetables from south to north of China in Guangxi,supplementary vegetable supply off-season and supplying to Hong Kong and Macao.Chieh qua has long cultivation history in Guangxi and is popular in the consumer market.Compare to Bitter melon,cucumber and other vegetables,its price is lower.Moreover the traditonal cultivation of Chieh qua is between June to August,so the price is more low in this season and the cultivation efficiency is low too.The cultivation techniques in early spring can go on the market one month earlier and get better price and benefit.In this study cold tolerance test in seedling stage,variety comparison test,cultivation techniques in early spring were used to compare cold tolerance and yield of Chieh qua aim to formulate an cultivation techniques in early spring.The main result were as follows:1.The cold tolerance test in seedling stage of Chieh qua:6 varieties were used.The most cold tolerance was Heixianzi No.1.The middle cold tolerance were Guiyou No.5,Lvxianzi No.5,Guiyou No.6,Linglong.The least cold tolerance was Tianxianzi No.1.2.The variety comparision test of Chi eh qua:10 varieties were used.Heixianzi No.1,Guiyou No.5 and Lvxianzi No.5 had higher yield in early and middle stage.Guiyou No.2 and Tianxianzi No.1 had lower yield.The reason may be Guiyou No.2 was later maturity and Tianxianzi No.1 had weak cold tolerance.The other was in medium yield.3.The cultivation techniques in early spring of Chi eh qua:9 vairities were used in range analysis and variance analysis.The range analysis showed that main effect of 3 factors was C>A>B.It means Coverage mode was first factor to infulence yield.The second was sowing data.The third was variety.The best comparison was A1B1C3.The variance analysis showed there were significant between treatment 3(A1B3C3)?4(A2B1C2)?5(A2B2C3)and treatment6(A2B3C1)?(A3B2C1)?9(A3B3C2).The other treatment can't get significant level.
