Comprehensive Evaluation And Application Research On The Landscape Value Of The Ornamental Crabapple Resources In Nanjing City Park

The Crabapple is the traditional famous flowers of the Chinese nation which has a long history of cultivation in China.The ornamental crabapple is an important ornamental plant with beautiful flowers and bright color fruits which in this papper refers to these crabapple tree resources with high value of appreciation,including a series of tree species of Malus whose fruit diameter is or below 5 cm and Chaenomeles resources in Rosaceae family.They are very important afforestation tree species resources in our country.At present,the ornamental crabapple research mainly concentrated in crabapple resources classification and utilization of landscape studies,the value evaluation,basic biological researches,the theory study of special park planning and design,the crabapple resources and landscape application and the fruit of part of the ornamental characteristics researches.And now,there is no literature to show the comprehensive value evaluation and optimization of the ornamental crabapple including the the ecological benefits.This detailed study carried out from 2014 to 2016 is based on the 30 ornamental crabapple germplasm resources in Nanjing Mochou Lake park which focused on the comprehensive value evaluation that including the ecological value,ornamental value,social and cultural value and economic value.The main results are listed as follows:(1)This article uses the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to establish the comprehensive evaluation index system of the ornamental crabapple resources in nanjing city park.The weights of criteria layer list as follows:B1 ecological value>B2 ornamental value>B3 social culture value>B4 economic value;the order of 21 factor layers of the total weight which can response the above rule layer is significant to the overall comprehensive value evaluation:C1 carbon fixation>C2 oxygen release>C3 cooling>C16 cultural connotation>C4 humidification>C6 corolla>C7 flowers>C19 easy propagation>C5 water use efficiency>C9 flowering length>C17 scientific value>C8 flowering sooner or later>C20 adaptation ability>C10 fruit>C11 fruit yield>C 18 educational value>C14 plant type>C13 season change>C15 application type>C12 fruiting stage>C21 drug edible value of health care.(2)Evaluation on the comprehensive value of the 30 ornamental crabapple resources in urban parks of Nanjing city.Ranking from high to low as follows;Malus halliana’Ziye’>M.’ Jewelberry ’>Malus halliana var.parkmanii Rehd>M.’Rudolph’>M.’Royal raindrop’>M.’Red splendor’>C.’Chengdu Muguahaitang’>M.’Prairifire’>Malus micromalus ’Lufeng’>C.’Mengshan Muguahaitang’>Malus micromalus ’Winter Red Fruit’>M.’Sparkler’>Malus halliana var.spontanea Rehd>Malus prunifolia>M.’Snow drift’>Malus manshurica M>Chaenomeles japonica.’Chojubai White.’>Chaenomeles speciosa.’Toyo Nishiki.’>Chaenomeles speciosa ’Hongyan’>C.’Mochouhong’>C.’Hong Mudan ’>Malus hupehensis ’ Huangguo ’>Chaenomeles cathayensis>C.’ Mudanhaitang ’>Chaenomeles japonica Pygmaeus.>C.’ Da Fugui ’>Chaenomeles sinensis>C.’Hong Baoshi.’>C.’Lu Baoshi.’>C.’Changshou Le.’According to the final score of the overall landscape value of the ornamental crabapple resources,we could divided them into five grades such as high(Ⅰ),high(Ⅱ),(Ⅲ)and low(Ⅳ)and lower(Ⅴ).There are 4 species at grade Ⅰ with high comprehensive landscape value,the proportion is about 13%;17 species are at grade Ⅱ and the proportion is about 57%;9 species are at grade III with the proportion of about 30%.Thses high ornamental crabapple cultivars such as Malus halliana var.parkmanii Rehd,Malus halliana ’Ziye’ of Malus halliana species and Europe Malus species of M.’Rudolph’,M.’Jewelberry’ in Malus family can be actively promoted and widely used in the landscape space.In addtion,among Chaenomeles such as C.’Mochouhong’,Chaenomeles speciosa.’Toyo Nishiki.’,Chaenomeles speciosa ’Hongyan’,Chaenomeles japonica.’Chojubai White.’,C.’ Mengshan Muguahaitang ’,C.’ Chengdu Muguahaitang’,C.’ Hong Mudan’ although only at grade II in ornamental crabapple cultivars,playing a great role in garden greening,also can be widely used in landscape design,in oder to create a variety of crabapple scenery.
