Jiangsu Province is China's economically developed areas,but also the main food production base.However,there are less land area in Jiangsu Province,and then expand the planting area of space of food production is very limited.Jiangsu is located in the south of China.The land operated by farmers is divided into fragmented,scattered,and different sizes of plots.Agricultural machinery in the field of small plots of the operating mode has its own characteristics.But there is less research on the working efficiency of agricultural machinery in the small plots.With the increasing seriously phenomenon of rural land fragmentation,the research on the efficiency of land operations should be paid enough attention.The terrain of Jiangsu is varied,both plain and coastal beach and hilly terrain,which can represent a variety of terrain in the southern region of China.Therefore,through the study of different characteristic plots in Jiangsu area,so as to simulate the entire South farmland.In this paper,the terrain features of three district in Jiangsu Province were investigated with satellite images.The districts are Liuhe District of Nanjing City,Jintan District of Changzhou City,Dafeng District of Yancheng City.The results show that the land area of Luhe District and Jintan District between 2.5?3.5 mu,the land area of Dafeng District between 1.5?2.5 mu.The number of plots in three Districts with a small ratio of length-to-width is more.The land has typical characteristics of small plots.The survey of land ownership in 62 households in 8 districts of Jiangsu province was investigated by questionnaire.It is confirmed that the land area of each District in Jiangsu Province has the characteristics of small plots.Working efficiency of harvester directly affects agricultural production of the autumn harvest season.Through the field experiment,the time of the field work and the actual travel of the harvester were measured,and the speed of the harvester were calculated.When the harvester working in the sample land,the average speed along the length side is about 1.04m/s,the average speed along the width side is about 0.83m/s.With the increase of the number of operating cycles,the corresponding reduction in time of the harvest.The evaluation of the harvester working condition in small plots can be used with two indicators,that is Work Efficiency(WE)and Effective Work Capacity(EWC).According to the time of measurement,WE and EWC of the harvester in the sample land No.1 can be calculated.The WE is 68.4%and the EWC is 4.62 mu/h.In the condition of land fragmentation,a better scale matching of small plots and small machinery can be achieved.In order to provide reference for the design of agricultural machinery or for Farmland Planning,the influence of the land area and the ratio of length-to-width on the working efficiency of the harvester was studied.The field operation time of the harvester was measured.By calculating,the WE of the harvester is obtained,the linear WE is between 0.73?0.86,the corner WE is between0.14?0.27.The linear WE is more than the cormer WE.The relationship between the plot scale characteristics(the plot area and the ratio of length-to-width)and the efficiency of the harvester is obtained.Land area is large,then the working efficiency of harvester is increased accordingly.When the plot area is certain,the larger the ratio of length-to-width,the higher the working efficiency of the harvester.
