Study On Varieties Characteristics And Reproduction Of Seedlings Of Louisiana Iris

The biological characteristics of varieties of Louisiana iris introduced were studied in this thesis.The seed setting rate,yield and quality of seed and rate of germination and etc.were improved by choice of varieties of Louisiana iris.The relation of separated plant time,flower time and quality of flower were researched.The results are as follows:1.The phonological period,growth characteristics,fertility,division ability of 8 Louisiana iris varieties were observed in this paper.The results showed that 8 introduced varieties in Suzhou can blossom and the leaves were green in winter.The differences in flowering,flower color,stem height and other aspects of the varieties provided rich plant materials for application in landscape.2.The seed setting rate of 5 varieties by artificial pollination in open were higher than that of in isolation facilities.The seed setting rate of ’Sea Wisp’ was up to 70.4%and it was applied for seedling production;The division coefficient of ’Black Gamecock’ growing in the field was 9 and it was applied for division propagation;’Hot And Spicy’ had no seed,division coefficient was low and it was produced seedling by tissue culture.The different way to produce seedlings was chosen according to different characteristics of varieties and it would provide reference for local seedling production.3.The plant of two late flowering varieties such as ’Black Gameco’,’Avanelle’ and two early flowering variety such as ’Sea Wisp’,’Teven’ were divided in middle of November,January and March.The results show that the flowering period of all variety separated plant were later than that of their parents for 3-6d.The ornamental period of separated plant of every variety was shorter 4-7d than that of its parent.The rate of plant flowering could reach 100%and the height of scape and diameter of flower grew well when the late flowering variety ’black Gamecock’ was divided in mid-November to mid-January and early flowering variety ’sea Wisp’,’Teven’ was divided in mid-November.The rate of Flowering were down to 23.1%and 20%for early flowering varieties ’sea wisp’ and’Teven’,63.6%and 33.3%for late flowering varieties ’black Gamecock’,’Avanelle’when their parents plant was divided in mid-March.The scape height and flower size was significantly smaller than their parents.4.The seed setting,rate of emergence and albino seedling,habit of growth were evaluated comprehensively.The results show that the seedling yield of ’garnet storm Dancer’ and ’Wizard of Aussie’ was very high whether their seed produced in field or in facilities and the yield of seedling per mu was more than 100,000.The production of seed and seedling for ’hot and Spicy’,’Under Cover’,’Sea Wisp’,’Seriously Blue’ and Iris brevicaulis was suit for in the greenhouse and That of ’Waihi Wedding’ fit in field.
