This research takes the adaptability of plants on median strip and side slop of Highway as research object, adapts the methods combining pilot planting and contrastive observing, and studies the surviving rate of nursery plants, height of plant and DBH growth, to ensure which plants are suitable for greening the median strip and side slop of Taijiu Highway, and to provide basis and reference for greening and renovation of the whole Taijiu Highway.The research result indicates:(1) The Taijiu Highway stretches along the Taihang Range featured with unstable climate. Plants suitable for greening median strip are Sabin chinensis, Sabina komarovii, and Euonymus alatus. Plants suitable for greening side slop includes Salix matsudacernegundo, Rhus typhina, Amorpha fruticosa,and Populus tomentosa.(2) Because of the maintenance measures and damage caused by deicing salt in winter, the surviving rate and growth of plants on median strip in the second year show significant change compared with the first year. In the key section of skid resistance, the surviving rate of plants decreases obviously. On considering the safety and practical maintenance, it is suggested to remove plants and reconstruct the protection wall.(3) Combined with the practical situation, the plants on median strip have the anti-dazzle function, but some road sections are accident-prone areas, plants tend to be destroyed severely. In accident-prone areas, higher difficulty of manipulation means the disadvantage for replanting. In addition, accidents occurs irregularly, so it is quite easy to miss the best season for planting, and results in low surviving rate. It is suggested to reconstruct the protection wall.(4) As to the plants on side slop, all of the experimental plants can realize the main functions to protect the foundation and to conserve the soil and water. However, plants on the downside of side slop are destroyed seriously by accidents and other causes, which should be given more cautious maintenance. The roots of the plants on the upper side of side slop have damage on the soil structure under the mortar rubble face-supporting walls. It is suggested to remove the plants and add drainage tunnels for outlet division to protect the safety of highway. |
