Selenium is an essential element for animal and human, but the deficiency of selenium is quite common both at home and abroad. The deficiency of selenium has threatened people's health and could cause potential damage. Currently, the development and research of plant foods can achieve the purpose of artificial supply with selenium. Selenium fortified foods which were made for the low selenium intake diet has been gaining popularity. Buckwheat is a kind of food which can be used in medicine, with high protein content and essential amino acids, high nutritional value and good digestibility. Se is preserved as selenoamino acid derivatives, in particular, selenomethionine in proteins. Therefore buckwheat is expected and known to be a good nutritional source of Se. Sulfur and selenium are congeners, with similar chemical properties, absorbed and transported by plants in the same way. Based on the similar physical and chemical properties of sulfur and selenium, factors of absorption and toxicity of selenium in biological is often attributed to the interaction between selenium and sulfur. To explore the effects of selenium and sulphur combination on physiological characteristics and the Selenium content of buckwheat, we used "Heifeng 1 hao" buckwheat as material, under the condition of pot experiment. The main research results are as follows:(1) The chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, water use efficiency, ?PSII, ETR and qP of buckwheat leaves showed a trend of increasing at first and then decreasing, with the increase of selenium concentrations and sulfur concentrations. Compared with the control treatment, suitable concentrations of selenium and sulfur combined application could significantly increase the chlorophyll content, net photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, water use efficiency, ?PSII, ETR, qP.(2) The activity of SOD, POD, CAT in buckwheat leaves increasing at first and then decreasing, with the increase of selenium concentrations and sulfur concentrations. Suitable concentrations of selenium and sulfur combined application could significantly increase the activity of SOD, POD, CAT in buckwheat leaves. Besides, under the single selenium and sulfur treatment, the MDA content of buckwheat leaves declined at different degree during each sampling period. The decline varies with the sampling time and the concentration of sulfur and selenium.(3) Whether the treatment is single selenium, single sulfur or the combined application of selenium and sulfur, the distribution of selenium content in various organs during the branching stage, flowering period, flowering 15 days are leaf> root> stem; while at the flowering 25 days the selenium content of buckwheat is as follows:leaf> root> seed> stem> shell. The highest selenium content of buckwheat seed is 0.279mg/kg, obtained at the level of S3Sel.
