Alfalfa plays an irreplaceable role in the development of animal husbandry.Scientific fertilization and reasonable drying method can increase the yield of alfalfa and improve nutritional quality.Study on the method of a combination of pot and plot experiments,as well as physical and chemical drying methods, was used to analyze the effects of four kinds of fertilizers: foliar fertilizer(YF),controlled release fertilizer I(AF),controlled release fertilizer II(BF),general compound fertilizer(HF)and different concentrations of two kinds of drying agents: Na HCO3,K2CO3 and four kinds of physical drying methods on the effects of biological characteristics, drying rate and nutrient quality of alfalfa. The result showed:1.Effect of fertilization on the biological characteristics of alfalfa was different.Under the controlled release fertilizer I,II(AF、BF),the plant height and yield of alfalfa increased first and then decreased with the increase of fertilizer amount. The yield increased with increasing fertilizer amount under general compound fertilizer.1.5 times equivalent of the controlled release fertilizer I(AF2)and II(BF2)were good at increasing alfalfa plant height and growth rate. The largest rang of yield increase was under the controlled release fertilizer II(BF2).The effects of fertilization on the stem-leaf ratio and first-order branch of alfalfa were small, and the secondary branch tended to decrease as amount of fertilizer increase. The controlled release fertilizer II(BF1)significantly reduced the stem/leaf ratio and promoted branching of alfalfa. The increase of fertilization amount increased the dry weight and volume of alfalfa root system. The dry weight and volume of alfalfa root system were the highest under the controlled release fertilizer I(AF3),while reducing the amount of fertilizer was beneficial to the growth of the principal root of alfalfa. The root of alfalfa under the general compound fertilizer(HF3)was the longest.2.With the increasing fertilizer amount, the content of crude protein of alfalfa decreased.Controlled release fertilizer II(BF)could significantly increase the content of crude protein, and the general compound fertilizer(HF)could increase the content of P and K of alfalfa.3.Different drying methods had different effects on drying rate and nutrient quality of alfalfa.3% K2CO3 treatment maximized the drying rate of alfalfa and could significantly shorten the drying time. The content of crude protein with 3% NaHCO3 treatment was the highest. The effect of different drying agents on ash was not significant. The content of P in alfalfa was higher with K2CO3 treatment. Thus we can see,3% K2CO3 could accelerate drying rate and reduce the loss of its nutrient quality of alfalfa. In the treatments of air-dry,dried in the shade and dried in the sun,the crude protein content reduced with increasing time, and the treatments of bake-dried for 105 ℃ was the highest for crude protein content, and dried in the shade for 9 days was the lowest.4.Based on the comprehensive analysis of the biological characteristics and nutrient component of alfalfa, considering the yield and economic value, the comprehensive performance of alfalfa under 1.5 times for the controlled release fertilizer II(BF2)is best, and it was recommended to be used in production. In the alfalfa drying, the alfalfa hay should be integrated in time to reduce the nutrient loss.3% of K2CO3 treatment can not only accelerate the drying rate of alfalfa but also ensure the nutritional quality,it may be preferentially recommended as a drying aid for alfalfa.
