Production and modulation of hay are an important link of hay industrialization in china in the future. So alfalfa drying is the necessary pretreatment way of storage and processing after hay harvest. It is important to the actual production with the research of drying charcteristic and drying tecnology.In this paper, alfalfa drying charcteristic and tecnology were researched using GZ-1drying test device. Hot air temperature, hot air velocity, physical pretreatment methods and help dry agent concentration were discussed with fresh alfalfa based on dried quality which included crude protein content, acid washing fiber content and neutral washing fiber content. Then the four factors were optimized through L9(34) orthogonal experiment. Experimental data was analyzed through rang and variance to alfalfa drying process in order to find out the best combination. The best drying combination is A2, B2, C1and D1that means hot air temperature70℃, hot air velocity2.5m/s, physical pretreatment methods10centimeter crushed and potash concentration3%. Temperature and flow field were simulated and computed using FLUENT, the results show that influence of wind field is obvious and the influence of temperature field is not obvious in the different alfalfa placed way.
