The Serological Investigation Of Pigs' Toxoplasma Gondii From Some Regions Of China

Toxoplasmosis is an important zoonosis which caused by Toxoplasma gondii with a wide range of hosts including pig,cattle,goat,dog.Humans being can be infected with T.gondii by ingesting uncooked meat containing the tissue cysts posing a serious threat to humans' health.Therefore,serological survey of T.gondii infection among pigs in our country is of great importance for public health.It has been reported that strong specificity and high sensitivity are confirmed in ELISA test with recombinant truncated T.gondii surface antigen 2(SAG2),so the large-scale epidemiological survey can be carried out using this method.The survey was to be tested 3077 pig sera samples collected from different parts of Shanghai,Tianjin,Guangzhou,Jiaxing,Chongqing by established ELISA method using recombinant truncated T.gondii SAG2 as a diagnostic antigen.The res?Lts showed that 371 samples were positive and the total average infection rate was 12.06 %,the average positive rate from three small-scale farms in Shanghai was 23.81 %;It was 5.92% in Chongqing;it,from two medium-sized farms in Jiaxing,was 21.09 %,It,from two small farms in Guangzhou,was 13.25%;It was 8.36% from two large farms in Tianjin.In all,it co?Ld be conclued that pigs from different farms in Shanghai,Tianjin,Guangzhou,Chongqing have been universally infected with T.gondii and the high positive rate was found in some regions.There was no significant difference between the positive rate of T.gondii antibody in sows and boars in Tianjin.All these collected data could be served as a theoretical basis for prevention and control of swine toxoplasmosis.
