Epidemiological Investigation And Control Study Of Swine Toxoplasmosis In Ningbo,Zhejiang

Swine toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii.The infection rate was high in the breeding industry.The death rate of infected pigs will be high if not properly treated in time,causing the loss of interests to the pig farmers,which is not conducive to the healthy development of the pig industry.This study contains two contents:1.The epidemiological investigation of swine toxoplasmosis in Ningbo,Zhejiang.2.Research on prevention and control of swine toxoplasmosis.Epidemiological investigation:Sample collection and separation were conducted between March 2016 and February 2021.Total 4484 live pigs were surveyed.The infection of swine toxoplasmosis in Ningbo,Zhejiang was investigated by indirect blood coagulation test.Combined with typical clinical symptoms to understand the death of swine toxoplasmosis in Ningbo,Zhejiang.Comparative analysis was performed with blood samples collected from 2008 to 2013.The current epidemiological content of toxoplasmosis in Ningbo,Zhejiang is summarized.The results showed that:(1)The average positive rate of swine toxoplasmosis in different years was 13.02%.(2)The positive rate showed a decreasing trend.Infection of swine toxoplasmosis showed seasonal fluctuations,the positive rate was 11.64% in spring,19.51% in summer,11.22% in autumn,and 9.31% in winter.(3)The positive rate of urban areas(Yinzhou,Haishu,Jiangbei,Zhenhai and Beilun)was 9.60%,the positive rate of the northern areas(Cixi and Yuyao)was11.71%,and the southern areas(Fenghua,Xiangshan and Ninghai)was 17.45%.(4)The positive rate of swine toxoplasmosis in small farms was 16.38%,the positive rate of large farms was 11.05%,and the positive rate of Swine toxoplasmosis in small farms was higher than that of large farms.(5)The positive rate of Swine toxoplasmosis in different breeding stages:9.92% in mammal piglets,12.35% in nursery pigs,12.89% in growing and fattening pigs,16.03% in sows;The positive rate of T.gondii increased according the increasing age.Research on prevention and control of swine toxoplasmosis:Swine toxoplasmosis can be confirmed if it was positive in indirect blood clotting test,combining clinical symptoms,pathological anatomy and pathogen testing.It was administered according to the medication protocol,compared treatment effect after clinical treatment.The results showed that the effect of intravenous injection of sulfonamides combined with synergists in the treatment of toxoplasmosis was excellent.There was no preventive vaccine for swine toxoplasmosis.Improving the management level of breeding and improving the biological prevention and control system of pig farms were effective ways to prevent toxoplasmosis.Through this study,we investigated the epidemiology of swine toxoplasmosis in Ningbo,Zhejiang,and proposed effective prevention and technical support for the prevention and control of pig toxoplasmosis in the pig breeding industry.
