Inner Mongolia grassland is the important natural green barrier in northern China. With the increase of population and rapid development of economic,it has been widespread concern to the grassland ecological environment. The herdsmen as the main economic activity and basic decision-making unit, its understanding and responding on the ecological environment impacted the ecological environment. In this study,we choose nine plots in midwest of Chifeng city and did the ecology field investigation, such as community structure characteristics, community species diversity and biomass. At the same time,we did a survey by using participatory rural appraisal(PRA)within 153 herder families of plots. They were compared between herders' environment perception, awareness of environmental changing and couses of the environmental changing.A comprehensive study of the relationship between grassland ecosystem restoration and ecological environment of pastoral herders of perception, which are important for the protection and sustainable development in pastoral areas of grassland ecosystems. The results showed that:1.The Shannon-Wiener diversity index size order between the study area:Keshiketeng banner>Balinzuo banner>Balinyou banner. There is highly significant positive correlation(P<0.01)between Shannon-Wiener diversity index with Margalef richness and Pielou index.2.The total plant biomass in nine plots of study area are 596.70g/m2?1261.80g/m2.The total plant biomass size order between the study area:Keshiketeng banner>Balinzuo banner>Balinyou banner. The total plant biomass was positively correlated with Shannon-Wiener diversity index.3.By the awareness of the ecological environment of pastoral point of view,we can know that 88.2 percent of herders have realized the importance of the ecological environment, and only 65.4 percent of herders are really considerate about the impact on ecological environment in arranging the production activities There are 38.6 percent of herders consider that the local ecological environment has improved past lOyears, and only 27.5 percent of herders consider the ecological environment' s degradation trend.Degradation of the ecological environment on the cause of the problem,in addition to climate change the herdsmen have been aware of land reclamation, destruction of vegetation and other human disturbance is a major factor in the destruction of the ecological environment.4.Perception and pastoral herders Species diversity with total plant biomass ecological correlation analysis results showed that, when scheduling production activities, environmental awareness and ecological considerations Shannon-Wiener diversity index showed a positive correlation and with total plant biomass was showed a significant positive correlation(P<0.05).herders consider that the local ecological environment has improved past 10year with Shannon-Wiener diversity index showed a positive correlation and with total plant biomass was showed a significant positive correlation(P<0.01).It is one way to strengthen herders, ecological environment protection awareness by raising the cultural level of herders and economic status,as well as it play an important role in the sustainable development of the grassland ecosystem protection and restoration.
