Study On The Application Of Textile In Soft Decoration Design Of Living Space

Soft decoration is a new concept put forward in the constantly deepening and developing process of interior design.In recent years,soft decoration is gaining attentions gradually in China and becomes an important approach to realize people's functional and spiritual pursuits for living spaces.Textile is the element used most frequently and in largest area in soft decoration design,being an important component of soft decoration designWith this paper studies on actual applications of textile in soft decoration design of living space,the author tried to summarize the application strategy through analyzing the role and influence of textile in living space and its interactive relationship with soft decoration design.Firstly,characteristics of basic textile elements were analyzed from three perspectives including color,pattern and material,while elements and principles in soft decoration design were also extracted through document and data collection.By ways of questionnaire and interviews,the author then visited sample rooms of three real estates in Wuhan as actual cases,and carried out field researches on respective soft decoration design styles including “neo-Chinese style”,“traditional European style”,and “Greek and Mediterranean style”,thus concluded such characteristics of textile application as subordinating to,coordinating with,strengthening and deepening the style of space,through analyzing design application features of textile in these cases.At the same time,an on-site questionnaire survey,“evaluation of textile application”,was carried out among sample room visitors.Through comparing results of case study and questionnaire,the author found that,in living spaces,in addition to coordinating with the overall style of soft decoration,textile satisfy different psychological and physiological needs of people through flexible combinations of colors,patterns and materials.Afterwards,the author concluded that,in soft decoration design of living space,textile could play roles in enhancing space style,adjusting space color and improving space functionality.In the end,the author set forth the interactive relationship between textile and other elements of soft decoration design including furniture,furnishings,interior color,indicating that application of textile in soft decoration design of living space should make reasonable use of design strategies such as “contrast and balance”,“simplicity and repetition”,“scale and proportion”.In this paper,the author hopes to provide new thinking for studies on the application of textile in soft decoration design of living space,and tries to refine design application strategies of textile through combining theoretical researches and case studies,thus to provide some meaningful references for better application of textiles in soft decoration design of living space.
