A freak wave is a wave with large wave height, high energy and strong nonlinearity. The existence time of the freak wave is short and difficult to predict. It can be produced in deep water, shallow water and finite-depth water, and can also be generated in complex sea conditions. It is precisely because of the short and accidental nature of the freak waves that the research work on freak waves is still incomplete and the mechanism and influencing factors of the freak waves are still available. The numerical study of the wave overtopping under the action of freak waves is not much.In this paper,a two-dimensional numerical sink is constructed, linear waves and Stokes waves of various orders are simulated. The results of the numerical simulation are compared with the theoretical results. The results show that the two waveforms are consistent and the validity of the two-dimensional numerical water tank is verified. The numerical simulation of different types of freak waves is carried out, including the numerical simulation of two kinds of freak waves based on the first order Peregrine breathing subsolution based on the Schrodinger equation in finite and infinite water depth. The numerical simulation of the freak waves based on the Gauss envelope is performed and the waveforms are also calculated with the theoretical model.Comparing the two waveforms,it is found that the numerical results coincide with the theoretical waveforms, indicating the accuracy of numerical simulation of waves.Based on the simulation of the first order Peregrine breathing subsolution of the Schrodinger equation in the numerical wave flume, the study of wave overtopping upon a horizontal plate is performed. The surface profile of the water, the velocity of the on-deck water, the slamming pressure on the front edge of the plate before wave overtopping and the pressure of on-deck water are simulated and analyzed. The relevant conclusions are drawn to provide reference for the safe of ships. In addition, green water induced by linear regular waves and the Gauss enveloped waves are simulated, and the laws of waves overtopping induced by the three different waves are compared.Using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)method,a rectangular liquid block is taken as an example to simulate the actual flow process of dam break.Comparing the numerical results with the traditional Ritter solution and the prediction results of the MDB model,an improved dam break(IDB)model is proposed, which is applied to predict the actual dam break flow. The IDB model is used to predict the surface profile of the on-deck wave water flow,to find out the problems and to correct the IDB model.A new set of mathematical models, that is,the wave overtopping break dam(WODB)model is therefore proposed, can be directly applied to the prediction of the on-deck water surface, which is of reference value for the study of the safety of ship navigation.
