Wave plays an important role in marine engineering, and has always been a researching focus of scholars both at home and abroad. Due to the complexity of the wave movement itself, it is fairly challenging to simulate the movement of wave effectively.In recent years, with the rapid development of computer and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the investigation of the interaction between wave and structure by using the means of numerical wave tank has become a research focus in the field. As a result, the establishment of a high-quality numerical wave tank is very meaningful.Two-dimensional numerical wave tank is successfully constructed based on the Fluent and Flow3D software. By using Flow3D software,three-dimensional numerical wave tank is constructed.Respectively using ejector plate、additive sources in the momentum equation and Boundary Conditions, the function of wave making is realized. The use of porous media structures in the three-dimensional wave tank helps the absorption of wave. As to the simulation of wave by Fluent software,this article use the VOF method to track the free surface based on the finite volume means. combined with RNG κ-ε model and UDF macro Settings, the definition of the movement of the moving boundary as well as the modification of the momentum source term are used to simulate the production of a wave.The wave tank built by Flow3D software is based on the finite difference method. Using FAVOR technology to display geometry, the RNGκ-ε model and the VOF method are also adopted.The two kinds of software used in this article successfully implement the simulation of the linear regular wave, the Stokes wave was simulated by using the Flow3D software and a stable wave field is generated.the Three-dimensional wave tank based on Flow3D simulates the process of waves climbing and overtopping successfully and presents the dynamic process of wave climbing well. the calculated result is accordance with the experimental values. This suggests that the three-dimensional sink can effectively simulate overtopping and lay a foundation for the further study.This article uses the three dimensional wave tank to do the numerical simulation to explore the wave absorbing performance of a kind of submerged breakwater. The results show that wave absorbing performance is sensitive to wave period; in the same case, the smaller of the void ratio the better the wave elimination performance; Wave plate of the same structure performs the best when it is in the Intermediate level and high level.
