The Up-ender for nuclear fuel assembly shipping container is an indispensable device in the process of fuel assembly manufacturing,shipment and in-core handling.However,the current Up-enders used in China features less automation and less intelligence,unmovable and need travelling crane to work together.All these disadvantages have limited the application of Up-ender to meet the requirements of the automation and industrialization of China nuclear fuel manufacturing.This thesis has designed a new movable Up-ender for nuclear fuel assembly based on the Up-ender for AP1000 nuclear fuel assembly to realize the automatic turnover and automatic control.This thesis analyzes the structure of the current nuclear fuel assemblies,shipping containers and Up-enders used in China to find out the technical problems exists in Up-enders.It also studies the operating principle of AP1000 fuel assembly Up-ender to determine the key technical requirements such as hydraulic components,turnover speed,turnover angle and turnover force.The overall structure of the Up-ender is designed based on these function and technical requirements.The calculation for overall structure,hydraulic system,turnover frame,lifting platform and control system has been performed to obtain the main structure and parameters of the automatic Up-ender such as bearing capacity,key bearing strength,components material,hydraulic pump pressure and discharge capacity.Finally,The Solidworks is used to analyze the 3D structure of the Up-ender design.The CAE is used to carry out the simulated calculation analysis for turnover mode,force transfer and stress on key link point.After the feasibility study of the design scheme,an automatic Up-ender prototype was manufactured and verified by dummy AP1000 fuel assembly.The result of the verification has reached the goal of the design.Based on the above work,the future standardized R&D and expanded application for the Up-ender of advanced PWR nuclear fuel assembly are also proposed in this thesis.
