Human have never stopped exploring the mystical ocean since ancient times. The ocean, with 362 million square kilometers in area and 1.35 billion cubic kilometers in volume, has abundant resource and diverse species, therefore attracts more and more attention. The sophisticated ocean environment, however, brings tremendous challenge to the ocean investigation and exploration. The human operational vehicle(HOV)is considered the indispensable tool to marine resource investigation, and as a vital component, the HOV's structural configuration and its design mostly contribute to HOV's security and performance. In this paper, the hull structure of HOV,consisting of pressure hull and non-pressure hull, has been designed and analyzed.Determing the entrance's size and shape is critical process in the design of multi-holed pressure hull. After compared several alternatives,an appropriate type of entrance has been chosen and, together with pressure hull, analyzed by using ABAQUS.Furthermore a scaled pressure hull model test has been carried out to verify the design. With consideration of material, design load, installation and maintenance factor,a non-pressure frame has been designed and optimized by utilizing ANSYS.
