As an important part of merchant marine steam power system,shell-and tube condenser is critical to the normal function of the whole system.Low temperature sea water flows inside the tube side taking heat from the incoming steam in the shell side and the steam is condensed into water in shell side.The damage or breakdown of a condenser is mainly caused by flow-induced vibration(FIV)and the most vulnerable part is the tube bundle.The pressure pulsation of the tube side may contribute a lot to FIV and jeopardize the work environment of the crew.Hence,it is of great importance to study FIV and FIV-induced pressure pulsation of the tube side.This paper tries to realize FIV,pipe sound pulsation and their interaction experimentally.There are three experiments in this paper.The first is the test on the clamp-clamp flexible PVC tube,which is used for realizing the FIV rules and FIV-induced pressure fluctuation.The vortex shedding “Lock-in” phenomenon was found and it seems turbulent buffeting has a better effect on the pipe sound.The second explores some rules about the FIV of the tube,pipe sound pulsation and acoustic resonance.It was found that acoustic resonance could generate a sound-induced dynamic force mainly in the loudspeaker installation direction,and the FIV-induce sound pulsation in tube side is not symmetrical.However,the two experiments were the preparation for the third one.In the second chapter,it elaborates the designing of the steam power system and the test system.Even though there are some parameters unsatisfied in the steam power system,it still could meet the requirements of the condenser test system.By using the actual steam-water mixture in steam power system,the medium high frequency band of FIV is activated and the FIV-induced sound pulsation in tube side is still unsymmetrical.
