Tusi system has long existed in the southwest ethnic areas of China,it is the indirect management from central dynasty.Ming Wanli years,Mo Zhen Wei repair chieftain mansion buildings,built of the Tusi city.Today,The Tusi buildings in Xincheng County is the largest and most preserved Tusi buildings in Guangxi.It was listed as a cultural relics protection units in 1996,and it was the representative of Tusi buildings in Guangxi and even the whole southwest region in China.The Tusi buildings in Xincheng County was the precious heritage in the study of Tusi system.Based on the investigation and field survey and mapping,this paper studied the Tusi buildings of Xincheng County from the buildings and its cultural connotation.The paper is divided into three parts.The first part,tracing the historical origin of the Tusi system,studied the background of the Tusi buildings in Xincheng County.The second part analyzed the layout of the Tusi buildings in Xincheng County and the characteristic of the individual buildings.Tusi buildings had a unique style and character because of its influence by the Han culture and the natural environment and history and culture of the region.The site and layout of Tusi buildings followed the layout of the Han city,reflecting the Han Feng-Shui theory.The Tusi chieftain mansion buildings was the main part of the Tusi buildings,the living part was at the back of the buildings.In the east of the Tusi chieftain mansion buildings was built a ancestral hall.This phenomenon was not present in the Han's chieftain mansion buildings,reflected the hereditary system of the Tusi.Single building all divided into three rooms,and the level of the chieftain mansion buildings were higher than the official residence.Most of Tusi buildings were built for the brick and wood structure,the main structure had three kinds,chuandou style?chaliang style and yingshangelin style.The third part explored the cultural connotation of the Tusi buildings in Xincheng County.From the view of ritual system,The Tusi buildings in Xincheng County were better than the buildings of civilians,but not as good as the Han's chieftain mansion buildings.This meant that Tusi was the highest ruler in Xincheng County,but had the lower status than the Han's county magistrate in the same level.From the outward appearance of the buildings,Xincheng Tusi buildings showed the Han's culture characteristics obviously,only in the doors and windows and other details of the decoration retained the Zhuang's culture characteristics.The study on Tusi buildings in Xincheng may make a contribution to the study of Tusi system and Tusi cultural in Guangxi.
