Lu Tusi (one kind of minority local ruler) yamen is located in Liancheng Village, Yongdeng Town, the Lanzhou City, Gansu provinces. Being established in the early period of the Ming (1368-1644) dynasty, it is the national key cultural relics for preservation.Due to the unique geographical location, multiple ethnics, religions, and cultures co-existed in this area. Meanwhile, the area is exactly the mixing node of the Qinzhou craft and Hezhou craft, hence presenting a blending of rich structures and crafts of the local buildings. This research is based on a frame of vast literature sources. Taking them as the detailed historical background, I unify the methods of fundamental research and case study, the literature exploring and the field investigation, thus articulating the construction features and the cultural values of the tusi yamen, and moreover, attempting to analyze the traditional craft and its evolving process in larger areas. I also make a general survey on most of the early buildings in the Qinzhou and Hezhou area, and compare the construction of one area with another by systematical, logical analyses. The historical evolvement of the crafts and their blending in different areas are further explored upon the bases of previous researches. The different phases of historical evolvement in diverse areas may thus clarify; the craft evolvement and its inherent discipline of ancient buildings in Gansu and Qinghai provinces might be outlined as well. In conclusion, a solid foundation would be established for advanced research on the characteristic crafts of traditional Gansu-Qinghai architecture.
