SF₆ Leak Detection System Based On Infra-Red Technology

SF₆ is a kind of gas with good arc extinguishing performance,thermal stability and excellent insulating performance,which is widely used in high voltage electrical equipment.SF₆ gas leakage will happen because of a variety of reasons,which affects the safe operation of electrical equipment and the people's living environment and their own safety.Therefore,SF₆ gas leak detection is essential.In this paper,the physical and chemical properties of SF₆ gas were introduced.The harmfulness of SF₆ decomposition products and the reasons for the leakage of high voltage electrical equipment were described in detail.The main methods of SF₆ leak detection and their characteristics were described,especially the detection of infrared imaging.The algorithm of infrared imaging system was studied and analyzed,and the typical algorithms of image enhancement were studied.Based on FPGA technology,the infrared imaging detection system was built by QuartusII and Verilog HDL development platform.The outdoor SF₆ electrical equipment and GIS equipment were tested by the way of infrared imaging detection and infrared quantitative detection,the feasibility and effectiveness of the infrared detection system were verified.
