| Faced with the increasing severe conflict between urban development and environment protection, whether an urban system be of resilience or not has become the key point of urban crisis remittance.Building the resilient cities is the highlight in urban design and architecture field.Under the conventional rain water treatment, the problems such as water logging, sediment deposition and water pollution are deteriorating, because the plumbing work is expensive, complicated and environment-unfriendly,which is going against the discipline of urban resilience and breaking the urban eco-system.For the late years, the Chinese urban development and urban real estate have been booming. However challenges in rainwater management are numerous, which has negative effects on the resilience of residential area.In this context, the research on urban residential rainwater management based on resilience theory is importantly required. This thesis combines the theoretic basis from urban resilience and the practice from rainwater management into a set of assessment index and applies the index on empirical research in Changsha to explore the key problems of urban residential rainwater management.Initially, the thesis not only clarifies foundational concepts but also explain the related fields as landscape ecology, urban water supply&drainage and urban residential planning.Reviews the literature of urban resilience, rainwater management, and the urban residential rainwater based on resilience.Combine the rainwater management mechanism and practical methods;build a set of urban residential rainwater management resilience assessment index. As for the empirical research, three residential districts:Zhonghang International Community,Qingxichuan No.9 and Gongheshijia are chosen as the sample to represent the different community types in Changsha to be assessed by the index. From the conclusion of investigation, recommendations for the future Changsha urban residential rainwater management are given. The research founds that resilience of urban residential district convers three dimensions:infrastructure resilience, ecology resilience and social resilience. An ideal urban residential community should be capable of respond, recovery and readiness. The good resilience mechanism embraces both physical and social methods.Correspondingly, the assessment targets on the rain absorbance, rainwater drainage, and daily maintenance.Result shows that many drawbacks exist in Changsha’s urban residential rainwater management, which is harmful for its resilience, especially the shortage of systematic design and public education.Solving these problems is the direction of future improvement for Changsha to build the resilient and harmonious urban residential mode. |
