Virtual instrument is a typical application of virtual reality technology in aviation field,which uses computer graphic modeling and software programming to replace traditional mechanical and electronic instruments.With the advantages of low development cost,high flexibility,easy modification and maintenance,virtual instrument has been widely used in military and civil aviation field and has achieved good economic benefit.This paper analyzes the requirement of the instrument system of an electric airplane flight simulator,makes clear the function and performance that the instrument system needs to realize,designs the instrument operation circuit,develops the virtual instrument interface,and realizes the communication function of the instrument system.Among them,the hardware circuit part realizes the electric operation function of the instrument panel,mainly completes the design of the switch circuit,the key circuit and the analog signal acquisition circuit.The main technologies involved in the hardware circuit are microcontroller circuit design,signal conditioning,serial communication,etc.With the help of GL Studio tool and VC++ platform,the software designs aviation instruments of the instrument system,such as altimeter,airspeed meter,magnetic compass,vertical speedometer,sideslip instrument,and a multi-function display which shows the electrical parameters of aircraft.At the same time,the communication function of the instrument system is designed,in which the data transmission between the hardware part and the software part of the instrument system is realized by the RS-232 serial communication standard,and the data transmission between the instrument system and the flight calculation system is realized by the UDP and TCP socket programming.The main techniques involved in the design of instrumentation software are texture modeling,mathematical modeling,multithreading,dynamic link library,network communication,etc.At last,the function and performance of the instrument system are tested by the test of each module and the operation of the simulator system.After several start-up and long running,the results show that the instrument system is stable,the operation function is complete,the signal transmission is in real time,and the interface display effect is not only realistic,but also can respond to various flight parameters in real time.The multifunctional instrument is lifelike and can respond to key operation and switch control in real time.The whole system conforms to the design requirements from function and performance,and achieves the practical application.
